It’s a tough loss, but I think of all of our current un injured players on defense, he and perhaps, deuce, might be the most easily replaceable with almost equal talent.

last game, he got torched on the first deep pass and beat, (but not too badly), on another deep pass.

On the first deep ball, this is one of the two complaints I have about our defense this year. (other than tackling, whichever everyone complains about, and overuse of the three man rush).

My complaint is that Barnes “passed on“ a receiver to someone he thought was behind him, (when there was no one else coming out in the flat for him to possibly cover). He let the receiver run right by him as if he was SURE there was going to be safety help. was there supposed to be? Did he do what he was supposed to do? It’s hard to tell.

But there is a fundamental problem with a three man rush against a cover 2 defense. If you give the quarterback time, it’s very hard to cover two verticals to the same side of the field, which is what happened. (And has happened several times this year).

The point is you can’t worry about redshirts.

You worry about redshirts because it helps the kids.

Word gets around if you regularly screw kids over for trivial playing time.

If we all know about McCord losing a year of eligibility at Ohio State, you better believe every single recruit knows that coach does that to his players.
