Ehhh. Scheet happens. Samuel who is brought in to replace him is a 4 star from Florida and is bigger and I believe runs a 4.4. We are bringing in bigger and better recruits. We will lose some but keep more. Barnes flashed good talent when not injured. He was often injured. Hopefully things work better for him but moving on.

Thought he was brought in as corner. My bad. Ok no matter, the premise remains. Replace Samuel with Jalil, Ibn, Davian Kerr, his 4 star brother who is also a DB coming in. Kalib Singleton I think another 4 star...lots of young talent.

His recruiting site profiles say safety but he has listed himself as a CB/WR and the SU football twitter account listed him as an incoming corner on signing day. They listed him, Bredell, Lawrence, Andrews, and Gibbs as "CB" and Kerr, Singleton as "DB." I wouldn't take that as gospel but I wouldn't trust the recruiting sites either.

I think we have some decent young talent at DB spots but it sucks this kid went in conference. I'm also way more worried about getting help at other positions if we can

And the youngsters have a good chance to be better at tackling then the group we had this year, who were some of the worst I have seen.

Yeah I would be curious why with 3 of the best recruiters in the country. Syracuse can’t land these coveted portal recruits? I think it’s pretty evident actually.

It is evident, and they signed up for the job knowing what they were getting into, I would never disparage this coaching staff, but the “awww shucks we lost another one because of NIL” isn’t going to be a built in excuse every year.

Not everything is an excuse. We will always fight an uphill battle because of money.

Of course I know it’s and uphill battle , I am not ignorant to that fact, but u have to try and persevere regardless. And saying “well we know why we are losing” isn’t gonna change the fact that people would become very impatient if we started to lose consistently, and to be clear I don’t think that will happen.

Admitting we will not be able to get the top transfers due to NIL funding differences isn't making an excuse, it's a legitimate reason. Of course you still try, and you make a case to a kid that money isn't everything, but calling something an excuse that has legitimacy is already setting things up to throw coaches under the bus.
