Marek had 9 assists!

Then after that how upset the Bryant coach was for not getting an over the back foul on Marek LOL

The problem we have is that we have no one late in a game we can isolate to get to the basket. Hughes could handle and get by people. Griffin’s handle is not that great.

He could be a 16/7/7 guy.

“could” is doing a lot of work in that sentence. While I appreciate the optimism, and applaud his play today, he averaged less than three assists per game last year. To more than double it isn’t likely, imo.

Also, if he’s the dude we’re relying on to facilitate that much, I’d wager it means we’re in serious trouble with our team.

Pfft, I'm all chips in on the idea that the entire offense is going to run through Marek.

He’s going to be more consistent this year. Is shooting FTs better and his offensive game can translate to ACC play...but for gods sake, he needs to stay out of foul trouble, which is why we need him to play anywhere but C.

Well JB just said Marek is our backup C, so let’s hope Sidibe is ready to play 35 minutes a game.

i said it before he season an't i will still say it. SU has a team full of double doubles

Unfortunately they give up a lot of them, too.

If they run the offense this season with Marek as the focal point in the high post for 20 minutes a game, I could see him getting 5 or 6 assists a game. He's perfect for that spot on the floor. He's not getting in anyone's way at that spot.

7 assists is a lot in college, especially for a forward. I think he will end up around 4.5. Still, very solid.
Yeah I likely put that higher than it should be.

It has to. He’s our defacto point.
We got back in the game getting the ball to Marek in the high post. He still doesn’t look 100% comfortable as the focal point of the offense, but for this team, running the offense through him right now makes sense.

I think it will be more successful with Bourama and/or Quincy playing down at the low post. Alan can do some damage slashing too I think.

We almost lost the game near the end, when JG kept handling the ball and trying to beat guys one on one. I assume JB wanted Joe with the ball then thinking Bryant was going to foul. But they were smart, and more than content to let him try and beat their defenders. Real good move by their HC putting a big on Joe late. That was the sequence when Joe decided instead of driving by the big, slow footed guy covering him, he would try a fall back jumper, which was the worst possible decision he could have made.

You put Marek with the ball on the high post, have Buddy, JB and Alan on the perimeter and Q or BS down low, all moving around and a lot of teams are going to have a hard time stopping us.

When Kadary is in, there is less outside shooting but more slashing and another really capable passer on the floor. JG is actually also a good distributor, especially in transition. But it looks like Kadary is more of a pure PG to me. Limited sample yesterday...that is based more on what he did at Brewster last year.

This could be a really fun team to watch on offense. The defense on the other hand...

I will say that while the defense was truly horrific in the first half, it was decent in the second half. Not great but it was noticeably better. That gives me a little hope for the future.

I agree I thought the defense was better in the 2nd half, but Bryant did their part to help out with numerous turnovers and 3 point shots not falling like in the 1st half.

We had 21 assists as a team yesterday despite shooting 40% overall. We had some nice passing plays, some of the best I've seen in a while. Obviously we won't play teams like Bryant all season but if we can average 16 assists/game, that would put us near the top of all of CBB.
