Marlowe Wax: Chargers FA

When you look at how the late-round and UDFA Syracuse players have performed, you have to think that their college coaches deserve credit. Alijah Clark, Jackson Meeks, Marlowe Wax, LaQuint Allen, Oronde, Justin Barron have all exceeded their pedigrees.
Really rooting for those guys - especially Marlow Wax.

I agree. I feel that the new culture and how hard the team works makes the transition to the league easier. I remember an Alabama player saying their practice were more difficult than the nfl. Under Fran I feel it is the same for Syracuse players.

Well Chris Peal said in an interview he felt Fran worked them harder than they did at UGA, if that reinforces anything.

Agree. We've had a number of guys make preseason rosters in previous seasons, but for the most part, it was inevitable many were getting cut. These guys are making plays and in serious contention for making rosters, if not already guaranteed.

Might be our largest crop of rookie prospects to stick in decades

As one of the rare Cuse/Charger fans(I’ve experienced immense suffering), I feel like I have to comment.

There is no way Wax should be left off this roster. While the starting LB corps for the Bolts is solidified, Wax has definitely earned his spot over 2024 3rd rounder Junior Colson. Only problem is, Colson played at Michigan for Harbaugh. Colson has been a total non factor in his career. Did nothing last year, looked worse this preseason. Marlowe deserves to make this roster.
I have a son who lives in San Diego (too bad the Chargers moved) and I bought him a Marlowe Wax jersey for Father’s Day! Hoping he gets to wear it to a game somehow this season.

If Wax doesn’t make the 53, I’d be surprised if another team doesn’t snap him up to their active roster.

Inside Linebackers are mainly treated like a commodity in today’s NFL, and a lot of teams don’t have a lot of money or draft capital tied up in their LB room.

Several teams have had revolving doors at LB all preseason.

Titans have waiver priority and are still looking for ILBs. If the Chargers try to stash him on the Practice Squad, I wouldn’t be surprised if a team like the Titans picks him up.
