Don't look now, but Marquette's put together a nice little season so far. They're 8-2in conference play and have a pretty favorable schedule going forward. They could be a foil to our BE title dreams.

They still have to play WVU and Cincy twice (two tough teams who will be looking to punch their NCAA tickets) and also have games against ND, UConn and GT going forward.

I guess our schedule isn't as tough with UConn faltering recently, but I'm happy we have the tiebreaker over MU.

However, does anyone think this team should be a little concerned when they look in the rear-view mirror and find them only one game back? (Two with the tie-breaker.)

Yes. I'm not talking about the regular season. I'm talking about tourney time.

Anyone who says Marquette isn't a threat are kidding themselves and are ignorant.

Actually, I find their schedule going forward to be more difficult than favorable.

It would be great to say that we win the rest of our regular season games but bottom line is we can't worry about Marquette. I'm sure JB has been coaching his butt off the last three games without Fab, but now that he is back, I am sure he is coaching even harder to prevent the guys from thinking they are invicible now that the Big Brazilian is back.

Not saying they aren't a threat, but two reasons to be hopeful are (i) we are in the lead and therefore control our own destiny and (ii) five of their remaining Eight games are on the road with two of the home games being legitimate challenges.

@ Notre Dame
@ DePaul
vs Cincy
@ UConn
vs Rutgers
@ WVa
@ Cincy
vs. Gtown

The lineup with Fab in the game needs practice but the lineup without him needs alot more.

Would love to see a stat of CJ/JS/and DW's plus minus stats the last three games without Melo. It wouldn't be to pretty.

I don't know what to make of it but MU came roaring back against us.

The tiebreaker is huge, we're basically 2 games ahead of them, we may not lose 2 more games the rest of the year. I think most would agree worst case scenario for us the rest of the season is 5-3. That means marquette would have to go 7-1 to win it. Aint gonna happen. Plus falling behind double digits in the 1st half of every game is gonna come back to bite them eventually.

Tough team though, want no part of them in march.

I just hope Pitt and Uconn don't end up in the 8/9 game and Marquette finishes 2 or 3. And we win the regular season obviously...
