Troy Nunes@troynunes

Took my son thru SU Football facility yesterday, amazed at the dynamic In there now. Pre-Marrone alums are not well accepted #badmove
Is this true? Seems unlike everything Marrone has said he stands for. Anyone have any insight?

Too bad, but I'm not be surprised either. The only holdovers from when Troy played have to be Hicks and Luther, right?

what context is he talking about? what specifically?

I find that hard to believe. Would differ from anything Doug has ever said. You would think he'd embrace these guys ( and I think he does)

Troy is a die hard Paul guy ... perhaps that has something to it?

Probably wasn't even doug, maybe a stressed out assistant coach's assistant.

I'm guessing that nobody knew who he was, and if he showed up at a bad time, nobody was available to show him around.

Just seems hard to believe.

Could it be that the coaches and staff are getting ready for one of the more important games in Marrone's short time on the Hill?

Could it be that there just isn't a lot of time to "schmooz" Troy and his son or as Extreme has noted, nobody knew who he was?

“@MooseNation69: @troynunes I could have told u that...I went bout 2 years ago wasn't welcomed” --- rough to find out.

That's Quinn Ojinnaka agreeing.

I was at an event at Manley where P. J. Alexander was a guest of the football team. He was welcomed with open arms.

I wonder the context of these encounters.

Neither played for Mac.

Context definitely needed.

...but disappointing that someone who played football, who brought his kid to the facility on a Tuesday had a bad experience. Poor form by the football wing.

“@MissionAE: @troynunes @moosenation69 it's a joke. Everyone I have talked to feels same way. Not welcomed. Very sad” --- that's terrible

That's Erik Kaloyanides.

I need more context to be annoyed by this. Are these former guys showing up unannounced and walking around or do they plan these visits in advance?

If its the latter, we need to do a better job of rolling out the red carpet when football alums come back. I don't care if it's Dwight Freeney or Troy Nunes or Erik Kalayonides.

This is very disconcerting. What is going on here?? An alum of a school should always be welcomed back to campus with open arms (assuming they remain standup citizens) no matter their era of attendance. Multiple players to independently have the same experience? I see no reasonable justification. Something specific must be going on or have happened.

Quinn beat his wife. Not the type of role model you want for these kids.

Troy should be somewhat respected, I have no idea who erik kaloyanides is but not sure I care that much.

Bnoro, you just graduated from SU, no? Don't you expect a little respect whenever you return to campus? If these guys are convicts or stains on society, then fine. But if some unwelcome culture for past alums actually exists (not agreeing yet that it does), then it must be fixed.

Sorry we are in middle of the football season. I want my coaches and staff preparing for usf. Time and place for everything don't think this is right time for red carpet treatment

Agree...and remember, Marrone "won" some media contest where he went out of his way to help a fan (it was a reporter) with a request...

...but context is needed, but when three football alums says they have had shitty experience, that's disturbing given it represents negative commentary from family members.

I mean link hall is not exactly rolling out red carpet when I show up, but I find it hard to believe we're shunning the former players. Like someone else said. Context is needed.

sounds like miss communication and poor timing

maybe the program needs a three week period where all former player and staff are welcome back ... say signing day week, spring game week. and training camp week

1 could mean anything. 2 could be a coincidence. But 3 makes you wonder, especially when it's only friends on twitter right now.

Maybe that is partly why we get so few donations from ex-players.
