Yes I will beat this dead horse, but what is a better time than now? Program has momentum, the players are hyped up. Time to capitalize. Show him and our future recruits the stability.

Normally I'd disagree with you. I'm not a big fan of extensions on the heels of something exciting.

But in this case, if the AD really believes Marrone has the answers, this is as good a time as any.

Do you make this post if Lemon drops the pass?

DG has had the contract on his desk for a bit. Time to make it official.

Why not? Surely not yet a great coach but this year he has shown the ability to learn / change / grow. That goes a long way with me.

Yes. Lemon dropping a ball doesn't show that DM has done anything wrong.

He has this team eating seal cubs. They are ready to go. Fired up on the sidelines.

The comeback tonight excites any casual SU fan. If not, come over and rake my leaves too.

Haha good. I'm not trying to ignite anything either. Great win for us.

Do you make that post if Smith catches his pass? Just wondering.

What? We can both keep going back and forth regarding plays all night long. Like I just mentioned, I'm not trying to ignite anything. It's funny to me how the aura of the entire board can change at the hands of the last play. Do you disagree?

All I know about this game is what I saw when I got home, which was the final score and that we scored with a few seconds left to take the lead, so I have some catching up to do.

That said, I think this gives us a lot to build on. Moreso than say our win vs. Pitt where we didn't do much but won by doing just slightly more than the opponent.

USF is struggling, but that's a long road trip, and they're a team that's probably sick of losing and thought they had a chance against us. I'm going to guess we got a pretty good game from them, given the final score and the kind of roll our defense had been on.

The equation to me looks like:

desperate opponent + road adversity + lots of points + winning in exciting fashion = lots to build on and be optimistic about. This is a great time for fans to be pumped.

Give Marrone an extension now, and the football gods will strike a 4-game losing streak to finish the season upon us all.

He may have. We would have had another play.

South Florida is playing it's best football they have played all year. They had louisville on the ropes last week playing at louisville. For Syracuse to come from behind twice in the second half is just amazing. It is my opinion that coach Marrrone deserves an extension .

They have played pretty good against 2 of the best 3 teams in the BE.

The fact that they still had the fight in them after that 1st half showed me alot. Marrone and staff were able to make the right adjustments, fire up the players and come out throwing roundhouses to start the 2nd half. They scored 21 points in the first 8:50 of the 2nd half and blocked a punt.

What a great, great W.

We lost the first third of the season and won the second third, i.e. 3-1, with two victories in a row for the first time in a while. The great comeback has to give the team some confidence heading into the final third, though we need to play .500 football playing 3 of 4 on the road against comparable teams. The rest of the season should tell us a lot about this team and the coaches. They're all even again for the first time since week 1. We can all feel good about that.

Yes I agree...let's use some of that ACC money for Marrone and his whole staff as well.

If it isn't already, HCDM's contract status/future on the Hill will become a recruiting issue.

I am sure this is an over reaction and reading way to much into it, but DM is very honest and open with his players about the goals for himself and his team. He has also done an amazing job about teaching these young men to keep things very close to the "programs chest". One of our greatest complaints as fans under DM is we are held and arms length away from what is truly going on in the program. Getting information out of the program last year and even more so this year is comparable to getting information out of the former USSR. The only way is through those who have "escaped" from behind the "Iron Curtain"( or is it a blue one); i.e. BlackKnight, Rocco, etc... (Fellas I would be afraid because the KGB, I mean DMGB might hit you with a poisoned umbrella tip in a subway for sharing inside info. ;))

This being said, when I saw the silly attempt at a Gatorade bath, I thought to myself that perhaps he has made it clear what is expected for him to continue his run as coach. Could that bath be a celebration that he has met a goal set by him and the administration on what is acceptable as a season goal? Although there have been many arguments about the purging of the program when he first came in, no one can argue that the players that are here and playing now are not 100% behind DM as a coach and father figure. This is a very unique year for the program. I would not be surprised if the bar has been lowered just a tad because of the conflict in scheduling, home games, transitions, strength of schedule, etc...

DG is on record for supporting DM and the direction that the program is going, yet, to save his butt, this season could not be a stinker. Unfortunately it is not gravity and physics that make the world go round but money (thus China having so many high tides lately  ; I'll save that for the OT board :D). Is a 4 win season the base line for the schedule. By no means am a suggesting that the program feels as if this is acceptable,of course it is a bowl invite, but could this have been where an extension would be offered? I know that I am reading a lot into a failed attempt at a bath but that is what fans do.

Stayed tuned next week bat fans errr I mean Syracuse fans BAM; KRPLUNK; SMACK; KAPLOWIE ....

PS

I apologize for my posts being so long about such simple things, but I have been relegated to the confines of deep dark South Florida and my only outlet is through 16 Title 1 third grades who have just been taught to recognize where they are located on a map of the US. Of course, outside of locating where they are in regards to the rest of the US, they can also recognize Syracuse NY. I thought this more important than being able to recognize the national capitol of DC at this point in their young blossoming educational experiences. There is also a practice in my classroom that they get a treat if they can tell me the SU score from the weekend.
