He has moved to 51st and considered "safe for now". Seems accurate to me and when we beat Cincy he will fall back to the bottom 100 and get his extension.

Where are all the fire Nathaniel Hackett posts??

Or the Marrone is over his head posts????

This board flip flops more than Mitt Romney for gosh sakes.

(Sorry for the political reference - just trying to be ironic.)

Have there been many of these since the start of the season? I thought that stuff quieted down a bit after rolling up yardage early in the season. I'll admit I was hoping they'd get a new veteran OC but I really didn't expect the success we've seen out of our new Exactly The Same Old Offense this season. Not sure how more people didn't see that coming after the past three seasons.

It would have worked better if you would have said Obama, instead of Romney. :p

I was hoping for rain on your wedding day or a free ride after you already paid, don't you think?

Marrone is and should be safe but it could get interesting regarding the assistants...we've been pretty lucky with keeping some consistency there.

You must have missed a couple of weeks. It's been there. I think there have been a couple, "can we admit Hackett's not the answer" posts this year.

Yes, and these posts come from the same hand-full of curmudgeons with low football acumen.

True.

Except Romney really has flip flopped on every issue and Obama hasn't. (See abortion rights, gays in the military, health insurance, General Motors bailout and every foreign policy issue one could possibly name).

Other than that you're exactly right.

Mitt is a regular rock of jello.

Sorry again. I promise this is the last time I mention him.

That could certainly be true. I like this system. I don't see how it's the same as last year, which I think is a credit to, not a criticism of DM. But I like it and I've even liked it in some of the uglier games (Pitt for example). I admit I wasn't sold at all on Hackett and still feel a veteran OC to handle the offense wouldn't have been a bad idea. But I certainly think he's done a nice job thus far this season.

Constructive criticism of the staff is fair and does not mean that folks do not want them to succeed. In fact, most posts have noted that they like the staff and hoped they would succeed.

The posts with respect to DM and Hackett learning on the job were factual and pretty accurate. In fact, they still have a way to go. They are learning and have shown flexibility and adaptability. All good stuff but we should all remember that while these guys have great football knowledge, neither had any experience in their roles prior to this engagement.

Hackett still needs to figure out how to make quicker adjustments and eliminate the lousy first halves and Marrone has to improve on his game management skills. I think both will get it done but if we can't criticize bonehead moves we can just shut down the forum and sing kumbaya.

Among others I really liked the sequence leading to Sales's second TD which took place with about 7 mins left in the 4th quarter. Sales catches a short pass on the sideline and takes a huge shot. This isn't the play on the last drive where he had to get one foot down while being hit going out of bounds. On the play I'm talking about Sales took a big hit, and he popped right up and looked probably more focused than I ever recall seeing him. I thought to myself he's game on now go back to him. And on the next snap they ran a play that had worked previously in the same drive but Sales had a drop, only this time it was a 19 yard TD connection.

Lemon's TD reception on the final drive was clutch. I'm wondering how USF played Sales and Lemon. Did they put their best defender on one or the other or mix it up? Either way, it's nice to have two quality guys to test the opposing defenses.

In the second half the offense clicked and just about everyone contributed. I was happy to see the TEs involved.
