I didn't think they'd be "leaps and bounds better" but if you had told me that Schwartz would lead the defense to a Top 5 finish and whoever is QB would have a passer rating of 88, I would have thought with good game management from the HC that 12 or 13 wins would be possible and anything short of 10 or 11 wins would be a disappointment. And it was.

And I don't refuse to give Marrone any credit. He's not a terrible coach - he does some good things. Like I said, he seems to have an eye for DC talent. I like his training camps, very organized and jams a lot into them. He seems to be doing something right with regard to strength and conditioning considering his teams didn't suffer very many injuries.

But he also does some not good things that held the team back this season. And yet, I didn't want him fired. I wanted him to make changes to the offensive staff and give up the power he had over the offense. And he wasn't fired. He quit on his own. But I'm sure as hell not going to lose sleep at night over his departure, either.
