Maryland's season thus far

Against JMU, they gained 471 yards and gave up 302.
They gained 317 yards and surrendered 257 against USF.
And against WVU, they gained 450 and allowed 700.

I'm unsure if they have consistency issues, or if they play to the level of their competition.
 
Half of the fanbase wants CJ Brown benched, half thinks he's their only hope at the position. Some think Edsall should have been fired last year, some think he deserves an extension. They're really a polarizing team and fanbase. Their only constant has been Diggs. The OL has been pretty bad, their running has been mediocre, Brown can make some plays with his arm and feet, but not when he needs to make them. One of their posters said they had a ton of 3rd down issues that stemmed from Brown's poor throwing; Wes Brown, their starting RB (big-time recruit, whom SU was after) has been okay at best.

They sound like a better CMU team with Titus Davis. Not worried about Brown. Not worried about their run game whatsoever. Make Nrown beat you with his arm, kick away from Diggs (Dixon should be great here) and don't get discouraged if they make a big play or two. SU should win this by a few TDs. They're more a team in disarray than a team pulling it together.
 
CJ Brown's ability to run has me worried a bit. SU has not done a great job of containing mobile QBs in the past. I'm even more worried about Golson.

Figure out a way to contain CJ and limit the touches Diggs will get and game over.
 
Seems like this is more of a game that we'll win our lose. If our players play their position, play hard and have decent play calling, we should be in position to win
 
Maryland's D is pretty bad. We can move the ball against them, but if we do sloppy, lazy, slow developing bubble screens, athletic defenders will be waiting for it and its pick 6 time. If I see that, I'll go damn crazy!

Maryland's O -- stop Brown from running us ragged and we'll shut them down fast. Run game is weak, Oline is weak, Brown's arm is weak. Contain, contain, contain.

It really feels like one of those "keep everything in front of you" games. And let the talent do its job. CJ is going to make some bad throws that we should be all over, but SU probably doesn't need to send the house so often. Rattle him early and make him skittish, have someone shadow him and be ready to hit at the LOS should he take off... I don't see how Syracuse doesn't win by less than 7.

I agree. Would like to see us try and keep CJ in the pocket, not try and get sacks. He is mobile like Robertson and attacking him hard actually plays into his hands.

On offense, while I didn't see the game, reports says WVU made a lot of hay with bubble screens against the Terps. The general feeling is that they are doing a good job against the run, with the serious problems on defense all related to their very shaky secondary.

We might run more bubbles than normal, run a little less and throw long a little more.
 
SU needs a WR to take that bubble screen to the house. It will change the whole complexion of the game.
 
Im starting to warm up to the bubble because I know its an option in our offense and not a called play. We just have blocking on the perimeter

We need WR's that can block to spring the receiver. While we have improved, I think it remains a big problem.
 
I have a buddy who follows Maryland pretty closely, and I asked him about what I should expect.

His answer: "It's hard to judge. They have inconsistent QBs, a few big playmakers, and a thoroughly average defense."

He also said he's positive they're going to gain about 80 total yards against Michigan State because that's the type of offense the Spartans feast on.

While our D is not MSU's - we tended to feast on sub-par offenses last year too. I was encouraged by our destruction of CMU.

Our struggle was against elite offenses (and Gtech).
