Matt Park on Packer & Durham at 8:30 today...

anything of note?

Yeah, a field hockey player at UNC had a sharper picture from her dorm room than Matt did from his office at one of the top broadcast schools in the country.

One looked like 4K, the other one of those analog replays.

Explain that one.

Saw it, nothing of note, talked about all the freshmen on 2 deep and how strange the pre season has been. Not worth your time really.

The least descriptive play-by-play guy I’ve ever heard. Every time I have to listen to a game I find myself listening for crowd reactions to figure out if something positive or negative happened.

It seems to continuously be things like “Devito hands it off for a run up the middle” and then going to a different subject without saying what actually happened to the play.

(and yes, with our OL last year I had a pretty decent guess)

do you listen to other games at all? I listen to probably 5-10 games a week on XM in the cars, there are very few who are good at this, he way better than most.

Nah. Not true. He's bottom tier in Power 5. No question about it.

What he gives to the University is a mouthpiece and the willingness to help in all areas. He's also committed.

From a talent standpoint, he's not very good.

he is not even close to the bottom of the ACC so I dont know how to say he is bottom of pac 5. Who in the ACC do you think is good? pitt/BC/FSU/Miami are all awful for starters.

I think you are confusing talent and homerism.

He doesn't give down and distance, doesn't count numbers of yards, you don't know what the heck is happening a lot of the time. It's an absolute nightmare listening to him.

i am not saying that he does any of that well.. but do you not listen to other games..

Matt looked like he was in a jail cell. Its unbelievable that SU would allow him to do the interview from that location. It was beyond sophomoric.

(Inside) The IPF would’ve offered a good backdrop.

I like Matt a lot and think he does a good job overall. One weakness: he describes a play first, then give the result. He's certainly an SU fan, as he should be. But his broadcast style is not a 'homer'. He give you the straight story, just not as quickly as we'd like at times.

I notice that 'Orange Nation' is back on 1200AM and 97.7FM but 'In the Booth' is not. I wonder: will Matt be broadcasting from Chapel Hill or doing it up here based on a feed, like the met announcers.

Do you deliver drugs around the country? ;)

How can you listen to that many games?

That's a good point. I feel like I'm waiting days sometimes for the outcome of a play. I like Matt, but he doesn't have it for football. Really enjoy him and Coach Satalin for basketball though.

pretty easy. Xm is great for that. 2 hrs to the dome and back leaves room for lots of games every home game and you cant get SU on reg radio anyway. i have the radio on all weekend outside i save the 6-7 tvs for the evening games.
