Matt Park

I think Matt and Adam do an excellent job on the radio. I synch their broadcast to the TV for every game. Their inside knowledge and insight from being close to the program can't be matched by the TV guys who come and go week by week. Matt and Adam are well-prepared, do their homework and know all things Orange inside and out.

I had to listen to the second half on the radio and I was sorely disappointed with Park. I know he bleeds Orange and I want him to do well but:
1.) down and distance is not something he seems to realize is important to the listener
2.) he doesn't seem to care about updating the listeners regarding how much time is left in the game, which was especially maddening when we were trying to upset Clemson on the road
3.) he inexplicably seems determined to tell you where opposing players are from instead of telling you what is happening on the field
4.) listen to his call on the Collins td pass, there was no way a listener would know whether JRS caught the ball or not
5.) late in the game Clemson had a big catch and run and it was not until the next play when he decided to mention they were goal to go, the listener had no idea a big play had just been made of 20-30 yards
I never want someone to lose their job but I'm incredulous that we can't/refuse to find a better announcer given Newhouse is such a dominant part of the university.
I listened to the game and don't remember any of your 5 points to be

Of course, you're entitled to your opinion, but I listened to the whole game and disagree with you on all 5 points.

Might be fine synched with the TV. Listening to him without a TV is the problem people are pointing out.

I listen alot too just on the radio and I don’t have a problem with him. I listen alot to radio pbp on many sports and I find him no better or worse than most pbp broadcasters. IMHO.

I am basing my opinion solely on the last quarter of the Clemson game so could be wrong.

I was rushing home after golf and listening and the first TD he was just saying wow and I had no idea if it was a catch or that it was even in the end zone

That right there sums up my issue when I'm stuck in the car during a game.

Sometimes he's cheering like a fan, but doesn't actually say what happened. And I'll be, of course, screaming what just happened as I'm trying to drive.

It's not always, but definitely notice it from time to time.

But was better than the Clemson broadcast which kept referring to our QB as Steve ANJ-eli instead of Steve An-JELL-ee.

I spent much of last two Saturdays listening to Learfield whip around coverage. This is where I net out.

Same. The college radio guys everywhere are as big a group of homers as you'll find. Often times the analyst role is filled by a fanboy cheerleader who doesn't seem to know much about the sport.

I think Adam Terry does a great job. Unfortunately, sometimes he has to be the one to tell you what happened on a big play for SU. Seems like he realizes it when Park gets caught up in the moment.

I could never do the job for that same reason. Heck, I can't even do the clock at my son's hockey games. You know how many times I hear both benches yelling "CLOCK!". Because I either forgot to stop it or start it.

where is JeremyCuse when you need him. I'll never forget the night we were having a conversation with Matt Park and Jeremy told him straight to his face how awful he is on calls, specifically in bball

Lmao, to clarify I didn't say he was awful. Somehow it came up about people listening to the games on radio. I noted he was outstanding as a bball play by play guy one of the best but football was unlistenable. He did seem taken back but when he asked me to clarify I told him you can't tell what the hell is happening during the game and when a play happens you have no idea if it went for 3 or 37 yards. I like Park think he does a good job with the Coaches shows and stuff but he's unlistenable for fball, again I defy you to listen to a quarter and have any idea what's happening on the field.

Ha there is the clarification. It was a great talk and FWIW Park is a great dude.

Park actually sounds like he belongs on the radio. There are many commentators out there who do not.

Also, regardless, being a TV/radio PxP is EXTREMELY hard. Even the mediocre ones make it look way easier than it is.

When I TA'ed for Park's PxP class in Newhouse (which was only 1 credit hour IIRC), much of the class time was about prep and organization. There's so much information you need on hand all at once, and you need to sound seamless in accessing it.
