Matt Park

I like Matt Park. His commentary style might leave out some specifics but as someone who drives for work a lot and listens to a lot of sports radio I don't think that's unusual.

I guess it depends on how and why you're listening. If you're expecting the radio to make up for not being in front of a TV that's a hard bargain, I don't know that Matt even tries to do that. if you're expecting to be entertained and kept up to speed at a high level while otherwise occupied with something, he delivers.

There's also something of a learning curve to it. Kind of...building out a situational awareness for what's going on in your head, and taking queues from the crowds and whistles and such. The work thing has been going on about a decade and I definitely understand more of any particular broadcast now than when I started. Especially true for baseball. The crack of the bat has *so* much information in it.

I have been an SU fan since the early 70s. During that time, I have heard whiners complain about every game announcer we had.

Give it rest. They all are good though imperfect. Matt seems like a nice guy too. I enjoy his work and devotion to the SU teams.

No, I don’t know Matt personally or have any connection to him.

he is a really good person. I wish people would have a chance to spend time with him

I listened to him on the ACC network radio today and I get some of the critiques of him I’ve heard on this board. But he calls a fine game, I got a lot of info from crowd noise and then details from him. It was fine. His affection for Syracuse shines through.
