I know everyone wants to go offensive with the new HC...but it's an interesting thought.

Timeline doesn't match to what we are looking for. We need someone in place ASAP and he will not be available until maybe after the Superbowl. That would be a nightmare.

I think he's a great choice.

The last Belichick DC to become a college HC was of course Nick Saban.

Patricia is an engineer from RPI.

He was an offensive coach at Syracuse University for four years - as a grad assistant.

He has coached on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball for Belichick.

He's from Sherrill, NY.

That's the guy I want.

Hate to let the air out of your balloon.

If we were able to entice Matt Patricia to oversee our program, it would be an absolute home run. Talk about a guy who could lay out a plan and program and then delegate, wow, his next move is NFL though. If, and this is a big if, he wanted to do his own thing, I highly doubt it would be at this level.

Dude is on the fast track to an NFL HC gig. No way he's coming here.

This would be a Home Run hire. But he seems like an NFL lifer at this point.

Well THE Troy Nunes wants Matt Patricia at Syracuse.

I say, nope. Offensive guy only.

Also, no way he leaves the Patriots until after they play in the Super Bowl, which is not going to work for recruiting.

I dont think he is coming to SU as he should be in line for an NFL gig soon. But Konrad did endorse him last time and he is on record saying he dreamed of being the head coach of Syracuse at one point. Coyle would have to at least gage his interest, right?

Oh no, not this again :D

An NFL coordinator who said that Syracuse was his dream job?

We get Halley's comet every dog year around here.

That wasnt lost on me. And I may have overstated his interest. Here's the article where I read about his Syracuse interest.

We have no idea how Coyle thinks, so he might already have his Top 5, Top 3, or really Top 1 if everything works out.

But I said early on, that if it was a wide search, and several interviews were conducted, someone would wow them in the interview, and they wouldn't see it coming.

If interviewed, Patricia could be that guy.

But I wonder if the NFL is his passion now, and that's where he'll stay. If that's the case, the last we hear of him will be on this board (or Troy Nunes' twitter, for those of you who follow).

Because someone in line for an NFL head coaching slot would toss that away for the Syracuse job? Oooooooookay...

We had someone who HAD the Syracuse job and bolted...

Hobo? Why because he has a glorious beard? Trust me you can have a nice, big beard and not be a hobo.

No, I have a beard myself. I just think he looks like a hobo on the sidelines (one who eats really well).

I don't even know who he is, but I do know when ND hired Weis, Belichick allowed him to work essentially two jobs, ND for big chunks of the week and the Pats as well. I'm not saying Weis was putting in full time hours in South Bend, but if he was choice no. 1 and he wanted the job, I think there could potentially be a solution timing-wise.

He's been in the NFL for 12 straight years now. What does he know about college offenses in 2015?

Come on, guys. We need OFFENSE.

I think a hobo would be a good fit for us. I have the same look essentially. I would propose you give me crap for looking like a hobo...just for giggles.

He was breaking down film (of practices).
