the refs

I kinda think that’s the point. You can’t let the mediocre northern team beat the Magnificent Seven teams because those teams might leave.
so why are they letting FSU go 1-5? They let cal and BC go in and beat a banner program, where’s the logic in allowing that to happen if the goal is to keep them happy?

It’s just ridiculous. There is no conspiracy, you are all fans of the team doing the same thing EVERY fanbase does. All of this “well we always get screwed” talk is because you only watch one game a week where there is emotional consequence for what happens on the field.

The call on NC State in the first half for ineligible down field was questionable. As was the first of the two guys in motion in second half. And the confusion……..whoa. Can’t believe they can’t find better.

Some Tobacco Road home cooking going on here. this conference.

Can't happen.

NC St are the victims of this every game because the ACC refs hate them. Just ask them.

Serious little brother of Tobacco Road complex with their lot.

Sometimes you have to win more consistently before getting those kinds of calls especially in this league they basically gave them a free touchdown
So does that mean NC State has been winning consistently?

1. It’s not full conspiracy. They just slightly favor NC/Clemson/whoever is making the conference look good. It’s consistent. They see us as bottom of the barrel and not worth the good whistle in most cases.

2. FSU lost the good whistle when they went to war with the conference lol

it doesn’t take much to knock someone going full speed a few inches off of his line. I think in reality, he probably bumped him just enough to do it, but was still a ridiculous call.
Nudging him is probably a better term. It doesn’t look at all like he was “forced” out of bounds whatever term you want to use. Why? Because he wasn’t!!

I'll say again, Syracuse being good is farrrr more valuable to the conference than just about anyone outside of FSU, Clemson, Miami and mayyyybe UNC.

We're a popular team that generates strong TV ratings, located in a highly desirable region of the country.

There's absolutely zero incentive for the refs to "favor" an NC State, or a Wake, or a Georgia Tech, or a UVA, or anyone of those schools over us.

The refs are just bad. All around. In every way possible.

You’re giving entirely not enough credit to the ACC for being southern homers lol. Stupidity is often times a close cousin to incompetence

This. The citizen's council isn't storming out of the Waffle House planning meeting trying to screw us. The randomless of applying borderline calls is horrendous in this sport. And, calls are far and away more punitive in football than hoop or baseball. Would love to see that fixed.

The sport has a zillion rules, many randomly enforced. Stupid stuff happens across the board on Saturday's all the time.

As far as Wes Durham goes, he's trying to sell a game.

Not with Jim Phillips in charge. He's got no ties to the old boy network on Tobacco Road.

He's from Chicago and went to Illinois. Grad work at ASU and Tennessee. Came from Northwestern. Simple search can spare someone from making him out to be Jesse Helms (not political!)

That’s not what is being said though. It’s not “slightly favoring them” (which is still a cope honestly) there are people claiming the head office is actively intervening in the games to give other teams wins.

As for 2, why were they losing at all before that? Why let them go 6-6 under Dabo, why the poor seasons for taggert and early norvell? If you’re going to keep those guys happy it doesn’t make sense to ever let them lose. And don’t say “well they can’t make it that obvious” because the consensus seems to be that the “southern” folks at the conference don’t care about looking non Partisan

I just don’t understand how officials can see some of this stuff on replay and make these calls. We were not over the center, we did not have 12 men on the field and the NC State receiver was clearly out of bounds. Factually those calls are not arguable.

I imagine on the NC State board this morning someone is wondering how they could see the hit on Pena and call that targeting, or how anyone could think that first illegal formation was a penalty, or how they missed "all those holds" on Syracuse.

To be fair, there is only so much they can do. FSU is garbage and trying to kill the conference.

The illegal formation was bad. The targeting was questionable. To be clear I was speaking of the calls right on replay. Defenders at in a no win situation with targeting. Ball carriers always naturally bring their head down to brace for impact. I did not think that specific call was targeting either.

Florida state is suing the conference. They lost their favorite son status

Emotionally it definitely feels like they are out to get us but it’s probably just incompetence.

That’s why ACC is pee wee football. “Forced out of bounds”? I’ve seen tougher shoves in Mighty Mite football. Horrendous. Think that’s called in the SEC? Weak sauce.
It's called in the SEC if one if their favorites needs the call to stay in the championship hunt. SEC is as crooked as they come. It's part of the DNA of the good-ole-boy-network south.

He was absolutely giddy any time NC ST made a play. Embarrassing.
I thought Tom what's his face (the color guy) was worse about that. You'd have thought it was an out of conference game with how much he didn't know about our team.

Not a conspiracy guy but am I the only one who feels impending doom when they for review at league headquarters? What are they doing?
The thing for me is the lack of consistency week to week (or even in the same game). Anyone with eyes and a reasonable degree of logic could see that the NC State receiver (1) stepped out of bounds twice and (2) was clearly not forced out. Yet, the call stands. Why?

Meanwhile, the video review/reversal at the end of Miami/VT was probably the right call- but no one will convince me that there was indisputable evidence to overturn it. And yet, they did.

Officials will miss calls. They’re human and the game is played at an incredible speed. But replay needs to correct egregious missed calls consistently. I don’t think it’s any type of conspiracy but I do think the system is broken when calls are reviewed (and upheld/overturned) to different standards week in and week out…
