McCord

If Tommy DeVito, Ryan Nassib and Todd Philcox can make a roster and stick for a few years, so can McCord.
McCord is 5x the qb Devito ever can be. Anyone in the league who is evaluating QB talent knows his name. Even if the noise is minimal, they all know. He is going to be viewed as a value pick I think. Some team in mid rounds will feel really good about a A+ quality backup with potential to be a starter in the future.

What a blessing. I think he’s the most accurate pssser I have seen on the collegiate level. Who would you guys say has been better ?

(I assume you mean passer)

Ward, off of this season's numbers:
Completion percentage: Ward .672 McCord .655
Yards per completion: Ward 14.1 McCord 11.6
Yards per attempt: Ward 9.5 McCord 7.6
Touchdown Passes Ward 34 McCord 26
Interceptions Ward 7 McCord 12
QB rating Ward 171.2 McCord 140.7

I decided to look at their numbers last season when McCord, (at Ohio State) would have had the better offensive line and running game, as well as Marvin Harrison Jr. to throw to:
Completion percentage: Ward .666 McCord .658
Yards per completion: Ward 11.6 McCord 13.8
Yards per attempt: Ward 7.7 McCord 9.1
Touchdown Passes Ward 25 McCord 24
Interceptions Ward 7 McCord 6
QB rating Ward 145.4 McCord 161.6

So, obviously, those things matter. Ward was more like McCord this year when he was a Cougar but McCord last year wasn't quite what Ward has been this year. Both are great QBs who will be playing on Sunday next year. Our problem is that the one thing we're good at might not be in our favor in this game.

I know that Caleb Williams has incredible play making capabilities and is a great dual threat, but I just saw countless bad throws from him that McCord would have nailed.

It rather risky, but he really hasn’t taken a whole lotta hits this year. He gets rid of the ball so quickly.

I wonder how many pro careers were ruined by bowl game injuries.

McCord would do well in Detroit backing up Goff

It's a double-edged sword. If he gets drafted high, he's likely with a lousy team which will make him look bad. If he gets drafted low, it's likely to be by a good team that already has a star QB. The trick is to get a decent team that needs a QB.

Or end up playing for a team like the Rams where he can learn behind Stafford for a season or two

You can't make the comparison between how a guy looks on a bad pro team to a guy in college. Williams made those throws in college last year.

It’s ironic that players opt out of bowl games, but will play in playoff games. Must be a smaller risk of getting hurt in playoff games?

It tells you how meaningless bowl games are these days.Every athlete wants to win a championship but playing in basically an exhibition game not so much.

hes second there is no race without the horse
But there’s also no race without the jockey

So center is the most important position in sports because the QB doesn’t get the ball without the center it has been decided.

He is so freakishly calm I don’t know what to say.
Only emotion is when scoring. Very mature young man and if he doesn’t end up playing on Sundays, for many years…well, again I don’t know what to say.
Consider us very privileged that he donned an SU helmet in 2024.

When he becomes an NFL quarterback, I pledge my devoted allegiance to follow his team as I am presently without one since the traitorous San Diego Chargers left their devoted fans.

Would he have run that last play against the Lions with 15 seconds left in college rather than 5 seconds left in the pros.
