McCord

Hah ok, Did I say they ran it. They changed the time of a Playoff Bowl game with Georgia and Notre Dame. Pretty sure that's what the NCAA is thinking about over the last 48 hours not Kyle's waiver.
While you aren’t wrong, I would be absolutely shocked if the person at the NCAA approving waivers, is the same person who shifted the game time of Georgia/ ND

PR-wise, bad news often happens Friday but I imagine he’d want more coverage beyond our walls so earlier in a week could get him more press (if that’s a goal).

I understand why Day would do it. And probably correct. But why would it matter to those considering the appeal?
See below.
If you need to use an imaginary excuse you don’t have a case. How exactly does a player and an entire staff lose track? It is a lie that they are hoping the NCAA buys.
See below.
It’s mentioned in this interview that there’s a section of NCAA rules that has an exception for when coaches blow a year for a player (as Ohio State did) but those coaches didn’t know they were blowing the year of eligibility. Which might be why Ohio State included a statement with Kyles application/appeal for another year.

Seems like an important exception and haven’t seen it listed here (and I’m not reading NCAA rules to verify it)

I believe that’s the entire basis of the appeal. Pretty sure why the school got extra legal help on this too.

Again not what I said.

For all we know the same NCAA guys in charge of the waiver decision are at the game gettin drunk down in New Orleans.

It seems far fetched that Day didn't know that 5 games blows the redshirt or that Day didn't realize Kyle had already played 4 games before entering his 5th. Which was my point. The NCAA denied an appeal from Saban where it was way more plausible that he missed the 4 prior games played. It is a prayer that the NCAA falls for it.

Day signed his name saying that it was his fault. That’s what the appeal is about.

I don’t expect people to read 95 pages of this thing but that’s pretty well known that Kyle has the backing of Ryan Day and Ohio State that he should get another year. Now that is.

The original waiver request was denied without that piece from Ryan Day. Now its under appeal with some lawyering involved

I spend half my time in Tennessee, so I know how badly the Bama fans want Milroe gone. They are also unhappy with the new coach. Not only did he lose four (count 'em... four) games, but he also wore danged hoodies on the sidelines!

'Bama and Ohio State fans are equally obnoxious. Therefore, the pressure is similar.

Bonus Alabama joke:

Q: Why can't the FBI solve any cold cases in Alabama?

A: There are no dental records and all the DNA matches.

I tried to make this a major point weeks ago. Yes the burned redshirting is part of the appeal, but it's NOT the ONLY part. The NCAA knows they're going to implement 5 in 5 and according to John Rothstein that conversation is to continue in EARLY 2025. That is another reason why the school has retained legal representation. There is a few different angles involved in this appeal - which makes it more likely to be granted.

I got ripped apart here as well for saying McCord will have a major lawsuit against the NCAA if they sit on this ruling for a month and make people like him declare for the draft then announce right after.

That's 2 mil in NIL that's out the door for him. and for people that say oh he'll make that in the NFL, that's no guarantee, Syracuse NIL he knows he can get that a day after he gets his waiver. He doesn't know what he'll get in the Draft, maybe he can guess but that can go sideways real fast.

Discussed in early 2025.

Voted on in mid 2025.

Will take effect in 2026.

Maybe.

Kyle will be backing up Drew Lock on the Jints by then.
Does not mean that they will not review appeals with an eye toward what is coming... slippery slope they create on their own. That being said, that does not mean that they WILL review appeals with an eye toward what is coming either.

I also think we will see more NIL-reneging complaints. This will lead to Congress/NCAA claiming a need to regulate in a way that courts will not be able to strike down as easily. Sadly, only way to fix what is broken.

So you're saying there's a chance...

This is significant related to McCord.

The NCAA doesn’t do “trial balloons”. This is coming, and if they know it’s coming, they would be remiss in not allowing players seeking a 5th year of eligibility.

IMHO this is a green light and pathway for Kyle’s waiver to be approved, and I think it will be.

I think it will take effect for the 2025 season. But won’t be approved till June. Problem is the kids will be in the NFL. I suppose kids who don’t make the NFL can enroll to play in 2025 still.

They can't take that long it will open doors to way too much potential litigation and expose the NCAA more than it already is.

When I spoke with Brian Smith who is a national recruiting analyst with ties to the NCAA- he confirmed that decision has to come much sooner than later and sooner than originally expected.

The rule is related to a mistake. He can know those things and still make a mistake in the moment.

Just like I can know it's a bad idea to eat a giant burrito before a long flight, but in the moment I'm ordering, that might escape me.

Could be Jamarcus Russell 2.0. I don’t see him translating to the NFL
I definitely think Milroe has a role in the NFL, but probably not as a starting QB. Perhaps in a Taysom Hill or Antwan Randle-El type role where he can be like a swiss army knife offensive threat.
