You know how it works. There’s a difference between message board chatter and an official story or announcement. The story has actual people involved in the appeals process and can’t assume message boards are right when writing it. They’re addressing a much wider audience than this site.

I trust folks on here so I assume it’s the case but I also trust reporters who verify things in more legitimate ways.

For what it’s worth the folks I talk to and trust said they hadn’t heard as of early this week. But they simply may not know or are being coy. We will all find out before long.

I appreciate that Chris wrote a good informative story either way.

McCord would be a top 5 QB in the country if returning.

McAfee says top QBs are getting around $3mil this year at NIL-rich big programs... A huge increase over last year.

Can we pay McCord in the ballpark of $3mil, if that is his actual worth?

Nobody knows for sure if the appeal has been granted. Yes, people on this forum have indicated as such. I have spoke with people close to the university who have said that isn't true. I am NOT saying one is right and one is wrong, all I am saying is there has been no formal announcement. Until that happens everything is speculation. I will tell you, I believe that it has been approved, but its just opinion. Reading about the arrest was still news to me and I have followed this story very closely. You can't say the article is outdated based on speculation, that isn't fair to Chris Carlson who wrote a great article. And if you believe it has already been approved, all the article does is further secure your belief.

If the 3rd QB Jack Miller was reinstated from his DUI 2 days earlier, I don't understand why Day didn't play Miler to preserve McCord's shirt. That is just dumb by Day and probably started any issues he has with Day. OSU gains absolutely nothing out of playing him in a 4th quarter blow out game instead of playing Jack Miller and for McCord certainly losing a season of eligibility was much worse than any experience he gained in that game. How are you not prepped for that moment to happen?

He should get another year on the grounds his coach was a dumbass and screwed him. And that was out of his control.

My guess is Day was probably pissed off at Miller and didn't want to see him on the field in the OSU uniform. He very well could have played Kyle out of anger at Miller, and didn't even consider that this decision burned Kyle's redshirt. I could easily see this as one of the reasons Day is asking now for a waiver for Kyle.

I don’t think the main factor with McCord is money. Does he even end up at Cuse this past season if it was? I think it’s if he is high enough on the draft board for QBs that he’ll get a playing opportunity in the NFL is the main factor here.

Ugh I feel like what is going to happen is players like Beck and Dart, also petition for 5th year (if needed) and get it and decide to stay at a factory school for another year. Meanwhile, these QBs staying pushes McCord up the draft board and he ultimately decides to enter the draft because Cuse cannot pay him $3m+ to stay like the factory schools can.

I’m sure I am crazy for thinking this but is there even a remote chance that if Allar decides to declare that PSU doesn’t try to double whatever Syracuse is offering to get McCord to transfer there?

Yeah and especially since McCord will be moving up the draft board increases the chance that he ends up with a team that he can potentially compete for a starting or a high desirable backup job right away.

I've heard from multiple sources that the funds are allocated for McCord. NIL is not the issue to bring him back. Its the appeal in fact being approved and then him choosing to come back over going to the NFL. Money isn't the issue

Glad to hear on the NIL money... The $3mil number McAfee mentioned had me concerned.

So the appeal is NOT yet approved?

Many were hinting a few days ago it was approved but just not announced yet??

He didn’t say the article was outdated, he said it contained nothing new for people that are following this thread. The target of the article was the general public.
The DUI was mentioned here back on Dec 18, post # 1200.

Nick I know Fran said that we will be less active in the portal this year but are you hearing anything about Kyle’s pending decision slowing down our ability to get some of these kids on campus who schedule a visit and then aren’t making it here?

Yes and I wonder if Beck has a no contact clause. If he doesn’t, you have to wonder if we do get mentioned as a school that reached out, that could be very telling on McCord. Also, I have zero idea on the relationship or if there is any between Fran and Carson Beck, but if there is in anyway and if Fran knows McCord is leaving, could we be in the running? When Beck was struggling during the season before he bounced back, I did have a thought on if there was a chance we get involved if he was ever in the transfer portal.
