McCord

He didn’t say the article was outdated, he said it contained nothing new for people that are following this thread. The target of the article was the general public.
The DUI was mentioned here back on Dec 18, post # 1200.

But it's not, we all believe his appeal was granted and now we see if he chooses the NFL or another year at SU. I'm confused with all the dislikes of my post as this appears to be the case and the article is already outdated

Clearly says the article is outdated.

If Dart and Beck stay in college, Kyle should absolutely go to the draft. He could be the 3rd or 4th QB selected and there’s a ton of teams than need a QB. By late 2nd early 3rd round you may see some desperation reaching for QBs.
If it is all or mostly about $ as The most important factor to him, then yes given the new circumstances, he should go, I have a feeling the other factors weigh just as importantly to him, such as being able to actually play in a game and have fun playing football for a while longer, which he would not do if he goes.

It immediately becomes work and pure business as a second, or even third stringer, given all that has been written about him.

Nick I know Fran said that we will be less active in the portal this year but are you hearing anything about Kyle’s pending decision slowing down our ability to get some of these kids on campus who schedule a visit and then aren’t making it here?
I've spoken in depth with people close to the team regarding this very question. Like you said Fran did say he wasn't going to be as active in the portal. He really likes what he brought in via HS Recruits last year and this year. That said there are a few glaring holes that need immediate impact players. I heard that those funds will be used if Kyle doesn't come back. I'd look for them to add a LB, DB (safety preferably) and pass rusher.

I was referring to his original post, didn’t see that part of the follow up.

Thank you!

Is that Fran's position until the University starts kicking in close to $20M?

DART wouldn’t work at all if year after year, the team was mostly transfers. We did a lot of work in the portal last year, but now the culture and program is mostly in operation. For a program of our size, we are in a power position when it comes to how selective we can be with the remaining scholarships.

I agree with this. DART is something that is instilled. It takes time and you have to choose the right kids that truly believe in it. That said, the portal will always be a way to add a immediate position of need while you develop within. I do think there is a need for some immediate impact players this year, but there will be fewer next season. Again If McCord comes back, I'm hoping they add one more OL piece a LB and DL/DE.

I wonder how this will affect Beck's status overall?
Beck was eventually diagnosed with a torn UCL in his right elbow, sidelining him for the rest of Georgia's season, which ended in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals with a 23–10 loss to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.

We need to fill these big holes no matter what McCord does.

Glad to hear on the NIL money... The $3mil number McAfee mentioned had me concerned.

So the appeal is NOT yet approved?

Many were hinting a few days ago it was approved but just not announced yet??
just because its not announced, doesnt mean its not approved.

Syracuse, and Fran would be fools, to put him in a public position of choosing between Syracuse and any team, college or Pro at this point.

I totally agree with you in regards to putting Kyle on the spot. That’s just something you don’t do. Two weeks ago, I would have said if there was an approval on the the appeal- he’s 100% coming back. Now I’d have to guess 70/30 in favor of him coming back. That said, as I mentioned earlier, not that I’m doubting anyone’s sources on this forum - the verdict on the appeal is still up in the air. I spoke to someone this morning who said they still hadn’t heard. One thing I’ve noticed this year more-so than last, Fran and the staff are much tighter lipped. I guess we are all still in the waiting game.

Seems to be some saying it's approved and he's waiting on his draft position to shake out and you are saying no approval has come in...

So conflicting sources.

100% sure I have no sources, lol!

I think it’s going to be approved. I’m not doubting that the people who said it was approved. I’ve heard from people close to the program that they’re still waiting to hear. I’m not saying one is right or wrong- we ultimately have to wait for the announcement.

It’s also likely different sides of the school/AD/program. Fran keeps his crew tight with information. Others in the AD / school less so.

I don’t think the main factor with McCord is money. Does he even end up at Cuse this past season if it was? I think it’s if he is high enough on the draft board for QBs that he’ll get a playing opportunity in the NFL is the main factor here.

I agree with this, too. McCord was an excellent QB at Ohio State, but was not really respected nationally, or by the NFL. He was merely a "game manager" on a team of more talented players.

He carried Syracuse, a historically bad team under a 1st year coach, to a 10 win season, led the country in passing yards, and educated the entire country about his touch, and his remarkable ability to throw into crazy windows for his receivers.

If he does come back to SU, he certainly is entitled to a really nice raise - whatever we can afford, while still putting a whole, complete football team around him. He has to completely understand that his is going to make a run at AA / Heisman, if he can put up a similar year against the name brand teams on our schedule next season.

If he wants to double down on himself, his draft stock is not as high as it could be. But we are going to be missing some important offensive and defensive players next year. Hard choice.
