I do not think he will be here next year.  I'd probably give it a 20% chance he's on the staff.  My initial reaction to the response from Shafer about his interview is that Shafer would likely have him back if McDonald is willing.  If not he would have just cut bait then.  I believe McDonald will initiate the separation himself though by finding work at another program as long as there is a willing P5 suitor.
