There is a huge difference between wanting more playing time and being a malcontent. MCW will get all the time he wants before he knows it.

And not to jinx any of the guards in front of him (knock wood), but he is one sprained ankle from being thrust into a more prominent role, in the middle of a demanding BE schedule. I hope he is ready.

And thats when he mentioned that Dion is virtually "unguardable", so he wanted both he & Scoop to create more on offense, especially with the lead.
Notice that Brandon is not finishing many games this year- usually by the 8 minute mark, your backcourt is DW & Scoop.

Listened three times and still believe that MCW is not upset in a negative way...as JB describes it he is going with upperclassmen as long as they play well...how do you pull Triche making four in a row...how do you pull Waiters...how do you pull Scoop...should MCW have gotten some time sure...but then Triche was also out for last 8 minutes too...no big deal...if a player isnt upset (not a malcontent) JB expects that...so its the interpretation of being upset we disagree with...

Haven't noticed that at all except in the scrub games. The closer games against the better teams like VT, Stanford and Florida he has finished. NCSt wasn't close near the finish and I think that was the game he hurt his hand.

MCW nor Rak have been happy with PT. It's tough being a HS AA and coming in thinking you're going to get significant time and then it becomes up and down. 4 really good guards is tough for JB.

You are the one who brought the "malcontent" language to this discussion. Nobody, certainly not me in the original post, said he was a malcontent. You are arguing with yourself on this one.

I haven't seen it discussed here so maybe I imagined it, but JB said in the post game press conference at PC that Carter-Williams was not happy about his playing time (no minutes in the second half after a nice first half). He went on to question himself about how he utilized MCW in the game.

I would say these are significant statements because

1. It's the first public whisper of someone not being happy, and it came from the last guy I'd expect it to,

2. I have never in my life heard JB discuss things like this in a PC (a player's feelings about PT) AND I never in a million eons would expect him to actually question his own decision making about PT in a post game press conference.

Am I the only one that heard this?

It not so much as what the players expect as it is what the coaches and fans expect.

This is big time basketball we are the deepest team in the country. MCW has three people ahead of him at two positions. Rak has 5 people ahead of him at three positions.
We are arguable a top 5 team of all time.

Furthermore it sounds like JB is the one trying to light a fire under MCW. You can't expect JB to throw him out there for more minutes when upperclassmen like Scoop, Dion and Triche want to make their mark.

Furthermore when and if MCW does fight for more mintues thets not go crazy over the top about it becuase thats what coach wants him to do. This is also sending a message to future recruits when JB says your ready as a fresh then dangit your ready.

This depth is a gift to us and I am sure Rak and MCW understand that and know they are absolute studs both of them. I see more waiters and Melo in them then I do the quiet roleplayer type.
Both of them will be first/second go to options for us someday.

MCW is going to be our next NBA solid starter at a minimum. We are the #1 team in the country. Egos are developing. A culture of winning is developing. A culture of entitlement is developing. I want MCW to be ruthless. I want MCW to want playing time more than Dion does. We need our players to be the best players they can be.

That's why if we go deep in the tournament, Triche will be the one on the bench in the 4th quarter, and Dion will be on the floor with Scoop or MCW.

I would love to know how he is practicing. Because I think the important thing to remember is that not many teams can duplicate on gameday what MCW goes up against every day in practice. This is one reason why I am predicting a sudden jump in his minutes towards the end of the year. MCW doesn't need a lot of game time to become game ready.

Agree 100% with above...if a player does not want more time then we should not want him on the floor...regardless of desire to play more does not equate to malcontent...

I'm not interested in dissecting Triche's stoic exterior, in an attempt to decide whether he should be in games late or not. If we are up late, I am much more focused on his FT%, and likewise if we are down late, it's his 3pt% I care about.

Ok, but since I don't think anybody would call Brandon lazy, or say he doesn't care just because he is a quiet personality, then you could just as easily say that BT's cool demeanor is just as effective in crunch time as Scoop's or Dion's more emotional outbursts.
