MCW's dad

Only thing I can imagine is someone mentioned something about the house

Unfortunate if true. Note that his parents are divorced; fire was at his mother's house. His dad is active in AAU in the greater boston area.

if an iu fan really did say something about the house thats pathetic

Wowwww...I'd like to hear more about this, unfortunate if true...

You can't crowdsource the news. That's not journalism. That's just gossip.

No, it is somewhat true. I was a section away and everyone was cheering when the 2 Indiana fans got thrown out. MCW was on the free throw line and the 2 guys started chanting something (I couldn't clearly decipher it) and MCW's dad jerked around and glared at the 2 guys. It went without incident for a minute or two and someone else involved with the family went up to the guys row and went off on the two of them and challenged them to see him outside and that he would essentially bash their teeth in. MCW'sdad made his way up too but the staff got involved and he walked back down and they were originally going to throw the family friend out but the guy explained what they chanted and that it was MCW's family and the lady turned and asked the two Indiana fans to leave. The two Indiana fans refused so the lady got a bouncer and he came down and told them to leave, they said no again, and the bouncer started putting on gloves and then the two guys decided they were better suited to leave on their own terms. Everyone cheered when they left. The Syracuse guys standing up a little behind them had a lot of screen time during the game and the two Indiana fans had heckled back in forth with those guys.

On a side note, I sat behind Cody Zeller's cousin. Nice dude. Ironically two SU fans, whom were plastered, sat right next to him and instantly started ripping Cody and I could see him get angry but he never did anything but the SU fans traded seats with Miami fans.

"A couple Indiana fans in the section next to Syracuse started a "Lord and Taylor" chant whenever Michael Carter-Williams came up on the FT line. After about the 3rd time some Editeded off 40 y/o white guy and Michael Carter-Williams Dad challenge the guys to "say it to their face" in the aisle. When I saw this happening I had to join in on the chant, and began mocking MCW Dad. The guy gave me the death stare until VC security broke it all up."

Thread is a bunch of whiner Hoyas trying to make themselves feel better about the FGCU loss by going back as much as 30 years to other games they've crapped out on.

If some s were sitting their ragging on my kid non-stop, I would have a real problem. Better yet, the s would have a bigger problem.

I had the chance to meet both his mother and father when he played in the Jordan game. Both really, really great people who went out of their way to express how excited and proud they were about MCW. Hope nothing happened.
Agree with OrangeMaNPD because I was sitting with him and got to chat with them quite a bit and they were super cordial and seem very involved.

Damn this story kind of reminds me of the BET championship where I was fortunate to have great seats down low in lower level and had these 2 douche cardinal fans in red jump suits bouncing around starting after sitting on their hands the whole first half and I almost dropped them but didn't want to lose such awesome seats so I just talked a lot of until eventually security came and was going to kick them out but after some begging they got to stay as long as they stopped their shenanigans.

Is this the first game that MCW's dad went to all year? Every away game I've been to this year (Seton Hall, Providence, Villanova, Georgetown and the BET) had the opposing fans shouting "Lord and Taylor!" whenever MCW was at the line. No biggie. Our fans shouted "where's your laptop?" every time AJ Price went to the line.

This. I understand what some of you are saying from a fathers prospective, but it happens to everyone, it's nature of the game. Hell, we have a thread about how fat Davante Gardner is. Let's not pretend like Syracuse fans don't do this too. With that said, if they were talking about his house, that's crossing a line.

To expand on this post, I had heard that the white guy was MCW's stepdad (not sure if true, but that's what they were saying in the student section, which was a few rows behind the two IU fans). Not sure if MCW's dad took so much offense to the Lord & Taylor chant, or if it was more of just the last straw kind of thing. I've been around more annoying fans in my life, but these two kids were trying to instigate a fight with the student section the entire night and security had to get involved at least a few times to settle everyone down.

My own perspective, I think white guy & MCW's dad were just tired of hearing these kids trying to start a fight the whole game and offered to take them up on the offer.

No fists were thrown or anything though, just a little yelling back and forth. I honestly didn't see MCW's dad yell anything at all; just the white guy.

Edit: Not sure what MCW's stepdad looks like, but this guy had kind of a shaved head and he seemed pretty tall. I know that's an awful description, but I'd recognize him if I saw a picture.

Winner! Longest run-on sentence in history. Worth the read though.

No, you are spot on. MCW's dad started to make his way up though but never made it all the way there because staff stepped in. I know a couple people in that student section and they were definitely trading back and forth insults to the two Indiana fans. I was hoping it'd calm down because there were quite a few kids inbetween them so I was happy when they finally were booted. He was definitely a tall, shaved-headed white guy who was the one challenging the Indiana fans. We definitely are talking about the same people, same situation.

As sad as it is, Many Syracuse fans are no better. We always read posts in this board, bashing other players and bragging about the smack that is talked. It doesn't make it right, but it is life.

Go Cuse!

Yeah, this describes it pretty well. I was a couple rows behind the two Indiana kids. Was under the impression that the shaved-head guy is Mike's step-father, but we could have been wrong about that.

The kids were obnoxious, but they weren't saying anything out of line (just chanting "Lord and Taylor"). The Mike defender was really fired up, way out of line. Strange that he wasn't thrown out, too. The usher in 113 was a little too involved all night. Standing and shouting seemed to be off-limits. (Threatening to beat up two strangers, oddly, was not.)

I can't complain, though - the IU kids won't get to see their team play tonight. We do.
