Melo is no Joe Johnson

That's how you get fired. You don't go after your best player in the press, when he's having trouble closing games. If it was lack of effort, then yeah, maybe you call him out. But when the guy has not been shooting well at the end of games, you don't throw him under the bus. Maybe Woodson has given up on the situation. He kind of said he has "let games go" in part of that interview.

When he said "let games go", he was referring to in the past when he would let the game go instead of calling a timeout to set something up.

I don't see this as a big deal at all. According to the article, Woodson never said anything to throw Melo under the bus. He didn't even mention Melo besides mentioning that he begged Beno Udrih for the inbounds pass. All he said was that he's done this in the past before and it's worked sometimes. The author of the article is just trying to create attention with the misleading headline IMO.

Woodson must go and while we're at it - can't the fans in NYC run Dolan out of town too!!!

You don't compare your star player to another player even if it's indirectly. You say "I should've called a timeout" and leave it at that. Melo also isn't a shooting guard with the handle that Joe Johnson has. Having a 3/4 take the ball coast to coast to hit a game winner with 6 seconds left is a recipe for disaster unless that player is Lebron.

im done with him.

crazy how fast that went sour.

get Lawrence Frank in here STAT.

I don't mind Frank but I think Lionel Hollins would be a better choice for this team.

Bad roster moves had a lot to do with it. How can Chandler be their only rebounder and defender for a coach who is a defensive specialist? He still has a great overall record in my despite the current problems.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I don't think Woodson did anything to compare Melo and Johnson. He simply said that he's let it go in the past and it's worked sometimes. That has nothing to do with Johnson or Melo. I'm positive that Woodson has as much faith in Melo being able to make a game-winner as he did in Johnson or he wouldn't have let it go in the first place. The only person that compared the two was the author of the article.

And regarding having Melo take the ball down the court, Melo often insists on bringing the ball up himself, so I don't think having him bring the ball up in this case is a bad thing. He creates almost all of his offense off the dribble anyways, so I don't think there's much of a difference. It would be a colossal mistake to put the ball in anybody else's hands, not to mention Melo was asking for the inbounds pass.

I think they want to bring back Thibs. I would take Frank, though.

Tough to expect much when Dolan is still running the show, though.
