He'll need to average just under 4 points per game next season to move into the #8 spot.

Melo is 3,131 points away from passing Wilt. He'd basically need to score 19 ppg for the next 2 seasons. Or a shade under 13 ppg (where he is now) for the next 3 seasons.

Those numbers are very impressive. Steph Curry just turned 34 and only has 20064 points. Hard to believe that's it but it's not easy.

He's 1,711 points away. Melo has been averaging about 900 points per year over the past 3 seasons so two more productive seasons and Melo could reach 30,000 points.
