Just to beat a few of you knuckle heads...I hope Red and the basketball program leans in HARD with Melo next year. I just don't think you can utilize him enough. Ask him to do so much he has to say no to some things.

It may not be the best look for a seemingly prominent academic institution to have as its commencement speaker someone so involved in the cannabis industry. His prominent history with said University not withstanding. What message does that send to the students? And the world?Cool prize for a big NIL commitment.![]()

That he engages in a legal industry. I would wager at least a third of undergrads, and 20% of professors partake. It may not be the best look for a seemingly prominent academic institution to have as its commencement speaker someone so involved in the cannabis industry. Of course they do. If not more. But it's what could be seen as endorsement of it that I find concerning regarding the image of the institution. That he engages in a legal industry. I would wager at least a third of undergrads, and 20% of professors partake.
They sell alcohol for *** sake. They provide it at functions. Alcohol is far more destructive to the person and society. In my years doing criminal defense, I never once had a client who beat his kids or wife while stoned.Of course they do. If not more. But it's what could be seen as endorsement of it that I find concerning regarding the image of the institution.
I can't tell if Floridaman posts comments like that just to rile people up or if they were just born in 1946 and have been living under a rock. They sell alcohol for *** sake. They provide it at functions. Alcohol is far more destructive to the person and society. In my years doing criminal defense, I never once had a client who beat his kids or wife while stoned.
I rarely credit SU for anything, but at least they are not hypocritical when it comes to this issue.
Huh? It's a legal business. It may not be the best look for a seemingly prominent academic institution to have as its commencement speaker someone so involved in the cannabis industry. His prominent history with said University not withstanding. What message does that send to the students? And the world?
This is the same group of fans that were upset we kicked out an ex felon booster who has his own tequila brand. It’s hard to keep straight what is ethically accepted around here.Huh? It's a legal business.
Would we not invite the CEO of Anheuser-Busch if they were an alum?
