Melo to the HOF

An absolute lock and one of the best scorers in the history of the NBA. College chip. Olympic gold a number of times over.

There is a world in which 2009 Denver beats LA (that WCF was way closer than people remember) and that Denver team would have smoked that ORL team. That happens, it's a totally different narrative.

But regardless, his accolades are plenty enough for this.

Wonder if he'll have JB do his intro for him at the HoF induction?
Imagine if Detroit had drafted him over Darko...

That's an interesting hypothetical I've thought about many times. In the long run, the Pistons definitely would have been better with Melo. But in the short run in 2004 and 2005, they were 1 win from back-to-back titles. Does Melo's presence throw off the perfect defensive chemistry of that team with Tayshawn Prince starting at SF?

Almost like a Z Sims/Michael Lloyd type situation. Lloyd was a much more talented player, but he wasn't better for that specific team.

I think it would have been a win-win if he went to the Pistons. Melo would have benefitted from having Larry Brown as a coach and playing with guys like Billups and Ben Wallace.

No surprise that the Nuggets were at their best when they paired Billups with Melo years later.

Great honor for our guy. Richly deserved.

I think it will be JB as well. They were together for one year at cuse and the three Olympics. He didn't really see eye to eye with George Karl or Phil Jackson during his NBA time. He is also close with his coach at Oak Hill so may be another option but is his HS coach in the HOF because I think the tradition is the intro is done by another HOFer.

It's my understanding you're also escorted by someone that is traditionally not in the HOF, so maybe his Oak Hill coach accompanies him.
