I just realized that Mike Stephen’s didn’t officiate any SU games this year. He didn’t do any games because he took over as director of officiating of the American East Conference. He was a pretty good official. He did have his moments, but most do.

Honestly, I didn't miss him. I did think he was a good person though. I remember during a dark time for JB, Michael went over and hugged him before a game.

He was one of the three officials in the Ohio State regional final, if I'm not mistaken. And he was prominently involved in a number of losses to Pittsburgh as well.

If he didn't become a household name like Higgins or Silvester it's only because he wasn't around for long enough.

Huh, I stand corrected on that one! To be fair to old Tim Higgins, I think it was John that night. Not sure if they're related.

Either way, all three refs on the floor were a train wreck.

I’ll never forget the blocking call Froggy Paparo made against Hawkins at mid court that gave BC foul shots to win the game. I went to official clinics that used that play as an example of an offensive foul. One of the worse calls ever made.
