Notwithstanding the personal connection to MSU...you'd think they would have done that deal with the Houston Rockets.

The MSU fallout is fast and furious as institutions of higher learning (and Miami of Fla) don't want to miss out on the sponsorship bandwagon:
  1. Oral Roberts...presented by Scope
  2. Texas A&M...changes name to Texas M&Ms
  3. Alabama Crimson Tide Detergent
  4. Slippery Rock...represented by Smith & Varney Personal Injury Attorneys
  5. Liberty...brought to you by God
  6. Oregon...sponsored by Big Baller Brand (can't believe they outbid NIKE)
  7. Miami of Fla...The Jewelry Exchange
  8. BYU...brought to you by the new Broadway musical 14 Brides for 7 Brothers
Some low-hanging fruit. I hope for your enjoyment

“The university also is seeking endowments for its head and assistant coaches to “assure that we can meet and respond appropriately to the daily standards being set for intercollegiate coaching salaries,” according to its Spartan Fund website. Naming rights start at $500,000 for assistant coaches in football, men’s basketball and ice hockey and go up to $5 million for football and men’s basketball head coaches.”

this is so bad on so many levels. When the college amateur athletics sham falls apart, this will be exhibit A.

Wow.

Tom Izzo really is brought to you by Carl's Jr.

So, players should be able to seek their own endorsement deals. Zion Williamson was already brought to Duke by Nike.

Not to excuse it, but other schools have actually done that, already so Michigan State wouldn't be a trendsetter on that. The University of Iowa women's basketball program just got a $7 million gift from a former player and their head coach position is now offically called "P. Sue Beckwith, M.D., Head Women’s Basketball Coach"
