Mike Tirico named commencement speaker

My class of 1963 had two speakers. The SU administration had invited CP Snow, a British novelist and physicist. Then, the senior class and some Maxwell School professors invited Adlai Stevenson, two-time losing Presidential canndidate and (at the time) JFK's ambassador to the UN. It was a little weird and uncomfortable having the two of them, especially at the luncheon that followed commencement.

I'll never forget Phylicia Rashad taking about "a mother's heart" and "a mother's love" for about 5 minutes in 2025 and then it being over.

In 1984 we had Dan Rather.

"I don’t know if this is the best of times or the worst of times. But I can assure you of this: It’s the only time you’ve got."

For the complete list, check:

Mine, in 1976 was Senator Pell from Rhode Island. We were all..who is he and why is he our speaker. 50 years of Pell Grants later, I know why. We all were Freshman when Pell grants became available and really did not know about them as they started for the class of 1977.
