Mike Young: VT

What is your point?

That RED should have begun his coaching career at Wofford, and/or if Mike Young started like that at a P4 school in this day and age he would be fired also.

If that is your point? Then I agree.

yep if a coach can't make in in his first two years, fire his @ss. Like this record Year 1 17-13 year 2 10-17 year 3 11-17 How many fans of that school wanted that guy out? Coach K Or 7-19 year 1 year 2 9-18 year 3 16-11 Coach Mass I wish you were an A.D. and could have fired those guys. Would have helped Syracuse a bit.

Different day and age a lot more money involved.

yeah, it's easier to turn things around now. Get the dough and you are a player.

Right, and the boosters are spending a lot of money, so if you fail as a coach in your first 2/3 years, you are gone period. The landscape of college sports is different now, there is no more learning on the job anymore for coaches, there is too much money involved. You either win or you are gone. The sport and expectation have evolved.

It can take a bit to get going. His second year was far worse than his first. SU fans are spoiled by JB’s success. The program did little or nothing without JB affiliated with it, either as a player, assistant or head coach. Remains to be seen if it was JB’s success, or SU’s.

At Wofford. 21 years ago.

This thread confuses me.

Dough combined with coaching staff aptitude equates to quick turnaround.

genuinely respectful of both media outlets. learns and repeats their names. (esp. donna) he's engaging the fine line between curmudgeon , cantankerous and comedy.
JB never mastered that. and camden thepp's performance as silent sidekick ...

Jeez just watching this guy coach I cant stand him but after watching this he is actually ok.

Honestly speaking, I think Mike Young is a better coach than Red. We have an undisciplined team this year. It is a fatal mistake that any coach should be fired in the end of the season.
We have no problem on player skill level. The problem is that players cannot play cohesively as a whole. The fault is all on the head coach.

It’s been said in a lot of other threads, but it seems everyone is increasing their NIL budget. I know SU has said they are increasing theirs, but it will have to be increased much more than other schools to become competitive. I just don’t see it, and we’ll be just as bad next year if not worse with Red at the helm.
