Minny Injury Problems

But does Minny have a Munchie?

To me it makes it harder to prepare not knowing that much about the backup and I agree with you, this may turn out better for Minnesota because who knows if they have a back up like Cincy did as well when they lost their starting QB the year they went undefeated.
Didn't that article say that the back-up QB came in and let to two or three TD's - he can't be that bad :)

I'm glad the staff has some film on him and it's nice to have a back up that can step in, I'm sure Loeb would do fine as well.

Doug and SU can't lose this game. There are no excuses for a loss next week!

And the Germans couldn't lose to Britian? Stuff happens...a guy plays his game of his life.

Vegas sez this game is a tossover...you need to revaluate.

If this team has "turned the corner" like so many proclaim then you can't lose to an equal team or maybe a lesser team with a back-up QB and Center. Ya just can't. No excuses. Win the game! No excuses!

Turned the corner, as in is a legitmate, competitive BCS conference caliber program. That's what "turned the corner" means. And that's all it has ever meant.

Syracuse would beat Minni with Gray healthy, probably by more than they will with Shortell playing. . I did not realize that "turn the corner" was looked at with skepticism on this site. Yee of little faith. We shall see.

As to which QB we will do better against history say Shortell as we have always had a hard time with dual threat QB's. Minny will be a very tough game but one that we should win going away.

Last year Munchie Legeaux beat SU after Collaros was hurt. Munchie stunk the week before against Rutgers. Also I believe UConn played their 2nd and 3rd string QB's against SU and won. Not saying its a bad thing for SU that their starter is out, just that it hasn't mattered in the past at times.

Louisville 2010 in the Dome is another example. Didn't have their #1 RB either. But the QB was also a 5th year Sr. as were all of the OL. Was still deflating though.

And of course, NW's final drive...

Part of me is glad to not play an athletic QB, but I thought we did a pretty good job containing Colter for NW. If the new guy is a better passer, it could be more trouble.

If we blow them out they won't have any excuses. Like by 3 or 4 touchdowns.
i definitely her you. But I hate when someone has an excuse for their loss. It's part of the game, but I know we'll hear at least 15 times how their starters are out... on national television.

Northwestern's backup QB did a pretty good job against us this season as well. We'll take the advantage and wish the injured a speedy recovery ,but please do not let these developments be a reason to come out flat and play to the level of our competition.
It would speak volumes for Doug's team if they came out in an away game hot and wanting to dominate We need a big game from both sides of the ball.Clark must get open. I also think the TE is being misused or forgotten, Against SB there were two plays that I saw for the vital position Wales. made a good play and a short missile to Stevens was dropped.

Speaking of TEs and injuries, what's the latest on Thompson's status?

Doesn't it seem like we struggle, for the most part, when we face the backup QB recently?

Collaros in 09
BJ Daniels in 09?a
Burke (Louisville) in 2010
Munchie last year
McCummings at UConn last year
The NW kid this year

The Cincy kid, Anderson, in 2010 is the only one off the top of my head to really stink it up.

The bottom line is, if we make fewer mistakes than Minny, we will win. Mind you, that's a big "if".

I say SU wins easily, this is a good team and they will get the job done. They have doninated 2 teams and played USC close. Time to admit that SU has an explosive offense. They average 500 + yards/game and I would say that's down right fantastic . SU by 14 at least.

I hope you're right, but this team is still struggling with self-inflicted damage every game. It's almost like we're afraid of success.

They had him at 4th and 6 at the 21 without the penalty and the QB scrambled because the coverage was good. I'll take that situation.

Wow that I will agree with. It could be from trying too hard.

I know I'm greedy, but I'd prefer it if the backup QBs couldn't drive to the 21, and that they couldn't get the favorable matchup of their goto WR (because their not typically good check down guys) against our OLB.

We always hear if one of our backup QBs come in, we might as well punt on 1st down. Might not be the case this year for once, but hopefully we won't find out.

I also know those are both probably cheap shots, but eh, gotta keep it fair and balanced. My posts lately have had positive intentions. I do like the way we look, just hope we can eliminate some mistakes and our stats sheet will start matching our W/L sheet.

Montel Harris was out for the BC game two years ago

whats your feeling on asterisk losses?

It cannot be an asterisk loss when the game is on the road, they are 3-0, and by God Marrone does not have his extension yet!

Here's a YouTube highlight video from Minnesota's win last weekend. It allows you to see both QBs. Shortell is definitely no slouch.
