StarlingWho’s their good PG?
Wertz is their pg.Starling
When we were good and played Duke, we get 34,000. When we aren’t and we play Colgate, what percentage of a full house do we get?I'm arguing it has nothing to do with our drawing power. Your own team should be the vast majority of the equation, as it has been for us over the last 40 years. We haven't led the country in attendance because we only played desirable opponents. When we've been good fans showed up for every game. ND should be able to put nearly 9,000 butts in the seats for every conference game, if their fans cared.
Why are you comparing when we're good to when we're not? I specifically said we draw when we're good regardless. And when did Colgate become a conference opponent? I specifically said conference games. In light of that. When we're good and we play a scrub like Boston College, we still draw ~25,000. That's nearly triple what ND's stadium is.When we were good and played Duke, we get 34,000. When we aren’t and we play Colgate, what percentage of a full house do we get?
Notre Dame isn’t good and we were their Colgate.
So he lived 4/5th of his entire life in CNY and his family lives here, but he’s somehow not a local kid? He went away to prep school for a couple years in Indiana. That certainly helped ND but it doesn’t mean he’s from there (also these kids are only there during the academic year). CNY is still home for the Starlings.First of all, yes JJ is from Bville but he had already left CNY and played his senior year 30 minutes from the ND campus and spent a lot of time playing pickup with the ND team
in the last year. He was a local recruit for ND, not SU.
And secondly, despite some ingrained woe is us CNY pessimism the fact is the uniform and name on the schedule is still SYRACUSE and means something to opposing fans. They could care less if we are down, just gives them a better chance to take down a big name team. The team may be struggling but the name is the same.
LGO!

My first message on the topic was not in response to you. The concept did not include reference to "conference opponents." You introduced that later. Why are you comparing when we're good to when we're not? I specifically said we draw when we're good regardless. And when did Colgate become a conference opponent? I saw that comment and that wasn't the one I responded to that began this back and forth. I responded to the one you made about us being a draw. It said, "Are we sure that wasn’t a statement about our drawing power? Not their Super Bowl anymore, to play a struggling SU." If you want to have a discussion, keep up with the topic. My first message on the topic was not in response to you. The concept did not include reference to "conference opponents." Either way, it doesn't matter. My point was and is the same.
"I will never understand why he would want to play there. That arena was basically half full with a dead ass crowd. And it’s not like the students are on vacation. They were coming off a huge win against Michigan State and ESPN could not hide the fact that basically only the lower part of the arena was filled."
People don't go to games just because of who the home team is. If that were true, we'd have the same crowd for Duke as for Lemoyne. People buy tickets to see quality and stars. Our record was 3-4 going into that game, with some disaster losses. We weren't expected to be good—not a quality product. Nothing to do with whether it was in-conference or not. Boston College is in-conference for us. Don't we get considerably smaller numbers vs Duke?
Arena capacity, as you're trying to factor it, is irrelevant.
We'll see if we get 25k for BC this year. That would be something.

My post on the matter was not in response to you. I have no interest in a back and forth with you. You're tilting at windmills and moving goalposts and reducing and mischaracterizing my statements to fit your insipid argument.I saw that comment and that wasn't the one I responded to that began this back and forth. I didn't say people did go for just the home team. I said it should be the main factor as it has been for us during our good years. Which is why we drew huge crowds against our bad conference opponents in the past. Were they as good as Duke or Georgetown in the old days? No. But they were still good. Why do you keep comparing a game between conference opponents to low level OOC teams? That's not the same. They were 6-1 with a win over a big name opponent going into our game. Their fans should've been excited to watch their team play.
I don't know how you can say capacity doesn't matter. A smaller facility is easier to fill. That's a pretty simple concept.
