Miss America 2014 - Miss New York Nina Davuluri Wins Miss America 2014 'miss new york wins miss america' 'Miss America' 'Miss America Pageant' 'Miss America 2014' 'Miss america 2013' 'Miss America Winner' Miss New York Nina Davuluri - Nina Davuluri of Fayetteville, who is representing New York in Sunday night's Miss America pageant, has been named Miss America.

Davuluri, 24, was in tears as she walked the runway in Atlantic City, NJ in a canary-yellow evening gown.

Davuluri said in an earlier interview with the Post Standard/syracuse.com that she'd like to win the Miss America title like every other contestant "Everything happens for a reason,'' she said. " If it's meant to be it's meant to be. It's a win-win just to be in it."

Earlier in the week, Davuluri said she felt she'd performed well in the lifestyle/fitness, evening gown, talent and interview sections.

Davuluri was crowned Miss New York in July. She is the first Indian-American to be named Miss New York, and plans to become a physician.

Her reign as Miss New York has not been without controversy. On Friday, the young woman who lost 60 pounds and struggled with bulimia was accused of criticizing Mallory Hagan - Miss America 2013 - as being 'fat.' Davuluri has denied the charge.

Davuluri spoke to the The Star-Ledger/NJ.com about representing Syracuse and New York late last week from Atlantic City.
