La Famiglia. La Cosa Nostra. Why would familia upset me? I'm Italian!
My entire family is from the same village in Italy, located in Molise Provence. La famiglia translates as "the family." Cosa Nostra translates as "our thing." Overwhelmingly "our thing" is in reference to Sicily and Calabria, not Italy. Both sides of my family hated the mafiosa and was insulted by people who attached it to anyone Italian. Coincidentally, calabrese, in the vernacular, means hard headed or stubborn. What part of Italy did your grandmother come from?La Famiglia. La Cosa Nostra.
Then again my dear Italian mother would say, "Those Italians, they're all a bunch of gangsters".
I think you're conflating "the Mob" with a mob (of people). One is inherently negative while the other is not. I don't think you should be disgusted by this.First of all, I'm not "mad." I think disgusted is probably a more accurate description, i.e. when you compare football to murder. Secondly, the bills, ditto. Thirdly, as someone who played college football and coached it for a while, I Care! And lastly, murder of people that happens in the present is not like invaders of the distant past. It's more like Washington redskins or Cleveland Indians, and even those racial names have changed!
As I said in my original post, "I hope I'm wrong." I hope we're good.I think you're conflating "the Mob" with a mob (of people). One is inherently negative while the other is not. I don't think you should be disgusted by this.
Forget the 3-3-5. Tony White’s attacking defense goes by a new name: ‘The Mob’
The nickname was brought to the SU program by Caleb Okechukwu and Aman Greenwood.www.syracuse.com
The unit’s nickname came from two defensive players from Washington, D.C. — defensive back Aman Greenwood and defensive lineman Caleb Okechukwu. It’s rooted in a popular term on football fields in that region and caught on quickly with SU’s defensive players when word first started circulating around the locker room last year
These are great. Love it. Also loved the defensive energy on the sideline Saturday. It was great seeing the guys engage with the crowd and feed off it.
Isn’t Mcphail a QB? Getting in on the defensive MOB awards I seeAfter UConn:
Scout team award for giving them good looks all week leading upIsn’t Mcphail a QB? Getting in on the defensive MOB awards I see
"Least Sweaty Arms" - Mikel Jones (in perpetuity)
Love seeing a “Scout MVP.”After UConn:
Glad they are doing this. Glad this is not targeted to me. Very possibly the worst “music” I have ever experienced. Oh and stay off my lawn.
Glad KD got that game ball. Kid played really well. Great scholarship addition.
Made a real impact. Big stop on 4th down in the first quarter.Glad KD got that game ball. Kid played really well. Great scholarship addition.
Organized hit men is a good thing on the football field.I hope I'm wrong, but the first thing that came to mind was organized crime, who have "hit men."
Really like seeing Freshman WR Donovan Brown getting Scout Team MVP. I was really impressed with his ability to slip & break tackles for YAC in the last few series of the Spring Game. Taj Harris-esque. Impressive HS track accolades as well. Definitely a WR to watch in the coming years.
Would not be surprised to see him crack into the rotation later this season.Really like seeing Freshman WR Donovan Brown getting Scout Team MVP.
