How is it that you want them to add to that rule requirements on the universities to be on the hook for anything?   This is all about greed.  The NCAA did a good thing when they allowed kids to declare for the draft and then come back to school as long as they do it before a certain date AND have not signed with an agent or accepted money.  I'd like to see them get rid of the date aspect but they can never control the greed of some people to grab the dough.  I do like the baseball way.  If a kid wants to go straight from HS and is willing to pay the price of working your way through the lower levels of the minors for a few years so be it.  The NBADL is robust enough to simulate the baseball model but there are options for kids in the US and overseas to make money playing basketball.  But if they do choose college, they have to stay 3 years before they are eligible to be drafted again.  I really see this as a win win win for the players, NBA and NCAA.  No it does not accommodate the kid that wants to go to school for a couple years and then turn pro but I would consider that eating your cake and having it to.  Which is kind of what they have now.  Why is everything skewed in the interest of 18 and 19 year olds who the vast majority of are not ready to contribute anything to an NBA team on the floor?  They truly have no power other than the ability to decide where to play.  Change their options, there is nothing they can do about it.
