Monmouth Postgame

If you do not know JJ personally, then you know nothing about his attitude.
I'm quite clearly talking about his attitude on the court. It's nothing personal, this is an odd reply.

He's just not switched on 100% of the time on defense. That is part of his ATTITUDE towards defending. It's not good enough for major college basketball if we want to be a tournament team.

That was not so clear. It seemed personal. But sorry for misinterpreting.

At some point, sure. But it wasn't while the team is on a 9-0 run, and on the precipice of blowing the game open.

There were worse calls later on (the Kingz foul) when they were on a run that could've changed momentum.

Fair enough.

After reading tons of takes that are all over the place. I think the only real answer is you ride JJ as long as his shot is falling. Look for the next chance to get him out when he misses his first shot or gets beat on D. That goes for free throws too.

People wanna make it so personal and about this back and forth crap about who should start and upside and all these other things. It’s none of that.

He’s part of the team and gets the same short leash they all should have when we have 10 guys that can ball. Senior or freshman it doesn’t matter, captain or not.

I’ve complained before about bad officiating, but what I saw the other night was “suspicious” officiating. I would think the FBI might want to have looksee at the game tape.
Unfortunately that same referee did the same thing to Vtech 3 days before us and continues the same pattern. He's pushing 45-50 fouls called per game. So I guess he just gets away with it because he's a terrible official every game. I never really think of the officials game to game.

Wonder if Charlotte beat the spread in that game as well…

In the universe of fouls, he's just making up for all the fouls that were never called on Peyton Seva and Aaron Craft.

I'm concerned he's quickly gaining the reputation of a guy that doesn't get the benefit of the doubt.

Which is stupid. He's not a dirty player. He's a high energy guy. That's a critical difference.
Yup. Ref had it out for Sadiq after he ran into that Monmouth shooter at the end of the half (when Red got a T). Sadiq stared at the kid after the collision and the ref clearly didn't like it. Right when I saw the ref's face I knew he was going to screw over Sadiq. Then Sadiq's 5th foul was not a foul at all. Terrible officiating by Jerry Heater.

I quickly Googled it out of curiosity, and the AI Overview said the spread ranged from VT -17.5 to -19.5. Final score was VT 84, Charlotte 76. Hmmm...is Jake on to something?

Momentum stoppage and run stoppage calls in our game where we were moving towards covering the spread. That’s another thing I wonder about in the VT game. Putting us at the line given the pcts helps the opponent too (hypothetically)…
