Gillon can't finish. White can't do anything other than shoot 3's, so when they aren't falling he doesn't need to be out there for 40. And Howard is playing worse than any other starting guard in Syracuse history.

Bring Battle along please.

And at least figure out a role for Roberson and Coleman. Thompson was out there too much too, even though I like him. He wasn't doing that much.

We're in a lot of trouble.

I hope Battle didn't play because he was "banged up". I think he's clearly our best defensive guard, and he has the most potential on O. He needs 30+ mpg

Based on JB's press conference, Battle wasn't cleared until yesterday and it was due to being banged up.

Especially when we're going nowhere. These other guys are not that good. Battle is our stud recruit. Roll with him.

Roberson's and Coleman's roles as they are now are perfectly appropriate. In fact, if anything one could argue they're getting too much playing time.

If he plays battle and he performs well the Syracuse beat writers and espn experts will talk him out of college real quick IMO. We have the worst beat writers in the country for baiting our players into making that jump.

Disagree. Roberson was frequently one of our best players in our biggest wins on a final four team. Guy destroyed Duke, was huge in the tournament. He's a PF and so is Lydon, so I get it. But you can play them together some as we often did last year. Thompson isn't THAT good yet. Other than one nice feed to Lydon, TT did nothing the entire second half.

Also, we were outrebounded by 13. Roberson is our best rebounder and DC is probably second.

If Battle wasn't a stud recruit would you still say play him? Bottom line he is much too tentative and add to that for whatever reason the staff has tried to make an A1 slasher into a 3 point shooting specialist (not in the Gtown game today - I think he only had 2 shots). He helps defensively, but on O he is not in any kind of a flow.

So don't play the guys who aren't returning next year. That's 4. So play Howard, Battle, Thompson and Lydon. OK that means the 5th spot rotates among the 4 lame duck players. Yea, that works.:bat:

I didn't say don't play them, I said play them less and play Battle more. White does not need to be out there for 40 minutes. Battle should be out there more than 10.

Take 8-10 minutes from each of those other 3 and give them to Battle.

He didn't play enough to get into any kind of flow. He had a nice drive where he actually finished...something none of our other 3 perimeter players can do.

In the 2 games Battle started he averaged 7 pts, 2 TO, 3 asts, 1 rb in 32 mins avg. Nothing stellar there. Besides, he didn't play much because he just got cleared to play the other day, so didn't have much practice.

Hard to put up stats when we have Kobe White jacking up 50 shots, a 4'8 point guard who can't see anyone and a 6'4 guard who turns into Stevie Wonder against mediocre and above talent.

HUH?

Better than what Howard has done against any teams with a pulse.

But yeah, the not practicing thing is a good explanation. Didn't realize that. Going forward, hopefully it changes. Howard has been awful.

i agree...I don't see the major NBA prospect that I was expecting - that said I would rather see him 3 times as much as Frank (who I liked until today) and Gillon.

Battle missed practice all week, and JB almost wanted to sit him out today.
and he still played better than F. Howard. I'm to the point to give up on Howard and let Battle run the PG position. He cannot be any worse than Howard or Gillon.

Not the ideal situation but I'm 100% with you.

Battle is not a point guard and will never be a point guard.

He was a wing in high school.

The staff needs to find someone who can play the point next year.

I mean we are going to go as far as PG can take us and we do not have one right now. Take a few lumps with Battle but I bet he turns out better at the end of the season then leaving Kaleb, er F. Howard out there.

We don't have one next year either. Hope the guys are out there finding one.
