Most impressive play from last night...

Just think of how good he's going to be when he masters a low post move or two!

He really has a lot of offensive potential--and we've really benefitted from his DEFENSIVE potential he's actualized this year. Hope we get to see him take the next step next season--sky is really the limit for this kid.
I have taken to calling him a quasi-low post threat. As you note, he doesn't really have any low post moves, but he can be effective there if the pass finds him in the right spot at the right time. Scoop and he have really developed an excellent chemistry, and their timing on lobs is turning Fab into a reasonable facsimile of a low post option.

Scoop and Fab are like MasterBlaster.

Fabs play was amazing, but I thought the play of the game was Triche's teardrop. It came at crunch time and he needed serious loft to get over Gorgui. Plus, it was a much-needed score at the time for you guys. That was serious quality scoring.

If Drummond seems to be a consensus #2 pick, I'd say Fab would be close behind!

I keep seeing Zeller, Henson, P. Young over him in mock drafts. What am I missing? I assume Fab will be a top 10 pick. Drummond, Leonard and Smith are the only bigs I'd put over him. Sullinger's back issues would scare me away.

He'd be a fool to come back. Just like Wes. Sigh.

Yeah I think Drummond gets picked ahead of Fab. I think Fab has a more well-rounded skill set, but Drummond can absolutely fly and is only 18.

There were 25 NBA scouts in the building last night.

Sullinger is like 6'8, that his biggest problem.

I could see teams taking Young over Fab maybe, but no way the 2 UNC bigs. UNC hasn't put a decent big in the NBA in a while (off the top of my head). Look at Ed Davis and Branden Wright...Also, Cody is way better than Tyler.

I still find it amazing the difference from last year to this year with Fab. Are we absolutely certain that this is the same Fab and not a twin brother or some pro player reincarnated into Fab's body? And he still has a lot more upside to go.
I am amazed at the difference from pre"Suspension" Fab and post"Suspension" Fab. That one dunk referenced earlier I went "What is that?" Then I realized it was Fab.

true, but you can get in a bad situation in the pro's , his off the court actions had him in trouble earlier, whose to say with a few million dollars he doesn't work as hard as he does at SU, or that he gets caught up in a new lifestyle and just simply slow down his progression, or loses confidence the first time Howard or Chandler send his shots into the third row?

At SU he gets to work in a situation we know works for him and his progression (at least on the court). He can develop a hook shot in game against competition that is shorter and slower and can get confidence in his footwork and maybe get a nice 12-15 foot bank shot going. All of this without attention going to Sullenger and Davis and maybe he is NPOY, I dunno watching the NBA game and then watching Melo I honestly think another year makes him a more viable long term NBA player as opposed to leaving and going in with his moveset as it stands.

it may be negligible long term but I think it helps his first few NBA years immensely.

But I think he has to go if he is projected lottery, its just too hard with injury concerns of staying another year to not take the guaranteed money now.

This is true, but he can also stagnate in college. What's going to help him more, practicing every day against another NBA big guy, or practicing against Baye Keita?

It definitely can go both ways. (Melo is a guy improving exponentially right now; he may very well benefit from playing against NBA players every day. Or he may not. This stuff isn't an exact science) Sure, if he stays in college for another year, he'll have a better rookie year than not, but if he goes to the NBA, will his second year be better than his rookie year if he stays in school?
