Most Memorable Recruiting Misses

The way we locked in on Quade and passed on a lot of guards was insane. The fact that he kept coming around the program but wouldn’t commit was enough for us to look elsewhere while we still could. We are not talking Flagg level talent here.

Anthony Davis is one that stung and Nerlens Noel afterwards. Both late Kentucky closer bags.

Lowery and DiVincenzo for sure. Not sure about Brunson. Jay Wright benefitted greatly by our miss steps.

We lost Karlton Hines to the streets. He was making more money than JB.

We chose not to pursue some guys in favor of others that but us in the ass (Kevin Huerter).
DiVincenzo- That situation was over before it started. The home team was locked in

Marcus Liberty
Jalen Rose
Kenny Anderson
Sam Perkins
Sidney Green (He and Bruin said they were a package deal)
Carlton Hines
Anthony Davis
Tommy Lewis
Jay Bilas
Would the late Winnifred Walton count, he was going to be great in Orange. The Donyell Marshall miss was as much as Calhoun in his ear telling him JAB would not last due to cancer.

Dior Johnson was a commit decommit for a bunch of schools starting with us.

Is Darius Bazley considered a miss?

Stephon Marbury
Kevin Durant
Ironically of everyone on this list, IMO Marbury probably would have helped us the least. I could see him being more of a me-first Michael Lloyd type player and not having the same chemistry Z Sims did that had us 9 points from a natty.

DeAndre Kane from Iowa State I'm pretty sure insiders here have said would have come, but we had either no interest or other priorities??

A recent one that could have changed not jjst our last few years but also CBB in general - Andre Jackson
I once asked a person very close to Andre Jackson why Jackson did not choose Syracuse. The person replied that Jackson felt that the Syracuse basketball players were not serious about playing basketball, but Connecticut players were.

I think we were on such a roll at that time that JB had other interests

Kevin Huerter is one that I’ll never get over. He wanted to come here. We didn’t have room due to sanctions & scholly reductions. The rest is history. Boeheim should’ve made room.
I was never convinced Huerter was coming here.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Ticky Burden. One of the best pure shooters ever. And who's grandson is projected as a late 1st or early 2nd round pick. Luther Burden III.

He was 7-9 from 3 this game…..and most of them were from around 28’ out! Ball never even touched the rim on any of them either!! Him and Jimmer both had crazy range

You could literally hear the Dome crowd nervously groan every time he shot the ball. If I remember correctly he even had a half court shot at the very end almost go in.

are the "misses" only for those who we really wanted but didn't come? Or does it include those who actually came but probably better off not?
