Is Rakeem Christmas. No one seems to be talking about him and think of the improvement Fab made from freshman to sophomore year and Christmas was already ahead of him and was a beast for some games in the tournament. Dude was a burger boy and I think will surprise some people.

He'll be good, just has to stay aggressive. LOL how do you do it?

It's an interesting premise, but your comparison to Fab is off in my mind. First off, I don't think conditioning was ever Rak's problem like it was for Fab. I can't see him making progress in that area that will be noticeable. Secondly, this isn't Rak's third or fourth year of playing hoops. The progress that Fab showed had lots to do with that.

Agree. Rak's improvement is what swings us from being a Top 25 team to a Top 10 team I think.

Honestly? I think it's Brandon Triche. People have basically written him off as being "he is what he is." He is the lead dog now. I think he will surprise people.

CJ Fair or Triche.
I think people might be looking too much at CJ. The obvious choice for most OVERrated player heading to next year is MCW (who I really think will be All-BE). I definitely feel like most folks expect CJ to come up big, but also feel like no one is talking about Brandon.

I don't know about that--there seems to be a fairly sizable contingent of posters convinced that CJ doesn't have any SF skills, is nothing more than an undersized garbage man "4," and can't hit a shot outside of 3 feet.

I guess I might have a skewed view because I think CJ is going to be great for us and just chalk him up as a given for next year.

Would be nice but hes better suited as a role player, a effective one, not a take control kinda player imo.

And Cooney is?

Curious to see if you answer this one.

Is Moqui, like, a really big dude or something? He's the only one I can think of that has that criticism of Thickburger.

Southerland
This is a good thread. I think Southerland has a chance to be one of those guys that people will make comments a few years down the road that they can't believe he didn't start until he was a senior. Last year he had eleven games in double digits. It would not surprise me to see JSIII the team's leading scorer this year.

If anyone offensively it could be Rak, MCW defensively, Jerami could have a CJ like freshmen year as a glue guy on the floor with less minutes.

James averaged 6.8 ppg averaging 16 minutes per game. Thats 13.6 ppg per 32 mintues.
Given he was a very inconsistant streaky scorer throughout the year that leaves pretty good thoughts.

"Dude" was a burger boy based on defense. He was the only player at the game that DID NOT average in double figures on offense. To expect him to make vast strides there is a little much especially with decent offense returning. I can see him being a defensive specialist for his career building towards 8 - 9 ppg at best by his last year.

Triche is a 4th year senior, 4th year starter ... he's already rated pretty well up there. Cooney doesn't have to take over to still be vastly under rated. He is just going to be a momentum-shifting sniper that will open up defenses for the rest of the team who will then be able to find seams & bang down low for O-rebs. Something sorely lacking last season.

the reason there are so many choices is our coach. ht decides who plays or not, not rhe players. he decides who gets the paul harris sustitution pattern or not, not the players. any pf last years head cases can qin this award.

10 seconds of my life ill never get back

Paul Harris got subbed be couldn't close out well on the wings on D, and didn't have the dribble or jumper to beat his man one on one all that well. While rautins was a decent rebounder, and a better three point shooter and opened the paint more for Flynn. Harris played good minutes the year before that at guard.

southerland got the harris treatment last year and that worked out pretty darn good for him! JB was gracious to him, just like he was to Triche and Dion splitting minutes.

IMO, DaJuan Coleman. We all know he's a McD AA and chose SU over Calamari, but a LOT of SU fans are already placing him in the Fab/Rak category for freshman year. He's a much different player than either of those guys. He'll open a lot of eyes across the nation.

can't be me, I think CJ's game is 10 feet and in, not 3 feet and in ;)

my vote for most under rated is Keita: our most experienced big who is coming off a terrific post season, who will get serious minutes in what I suspect could be the best frontcourt in the nation by season's end, but whom almost nobody mentions when they talk about keys to the season

Mookie jones has to get a shoutout. If hes back he has a shot at some earned minutes.
