My Devil friends are in Blue Heaven

I have six Duke friends with whom I chat about basketball and they are in rapture! They have not had the greatest seasons in the last few years (by Duke standards) and they are seeing glory a-coming! Now, I don't blame them one bit. I am just wondering: knowing what we know now - after ONE WHOLE GAME - do people here feel uneasy about the coming Armageddon in the Carrier Dome Feb. 1?

By the way no disrespect intended towards you beadle, but I HATE DOOK!

That said, Duke (I mean Puke) always blow teams like Davidson out this time of year because of their overplay attacking style defense. Good teams, particularly teams with good dribble drive offense can penetrate duke's defense pretty easily considering that they have no shot blockers in the middle; and floppers like Hairston and Thornton are going to have a tough time staying on the court this year because of the new block/charge rule.

Secondly, they generally run out of steam by the ACC tournament time because they play the same 7-8 man rotation all year long even when they are winning by 20 or more. I am predicting that CJ, Jeremy, and at least one other player on the Syracuse team are going to have great games against PUKE this year and that Syracuse goes 2-0 in the regular season.

Dear SU Fan in VA, no offense taken! It is rare to find an SU fan who does not feel intense vitriol towards Duke. Although I don't feel animosity towards most college bball teams, I am beginning to feel - how shall I put it - rising irritation at Kentucky and their MO. Any team that beats Kentucky will always be regarded fondly by me.

Duke beat Davidson with ease and with a fabulous offense, while we struggled to beat Cornell. If we get the wrinkles ironed out by Feb. 1 - and I believe we will - it should be a great game and winnable for us.
