Andy Rautins, Scoop, Rick, Arinze, Duany, Warrick, Kris Joseph, Fair weren't elite recruits.

They did get better.

My position is that it's not just about recruiting. Sounds like you agree with that, but just enjoy being confrontational, even when it's against your own interests.
