FINAL PROBATION
An undergraduate student who has not met the requirements of Academic Probation
In the semester in which a student is on Final Probation, the student must earn a semester GPA of
2.00 or higher.* If the student DOES earn a semester GPA of 2.00 or higher, then the student will
be removed from Final Probation. If the student DOES NOT earn a semester GPA of 2.00 or
higher, then the student will be Suspended indefinitely.
If the student’s semester GPA falls below 2.00 in any semester after the student has been removed
from Final Probation, the student will be Suspended indefinitely.
If the student’s cumulative GPA falls below 1.60 at the end of any regular session semester (fall or
spring), the student will be Suspended indefinitely. In certain cases it may not be possible for a
student’s cumulative GPA to rise above a 1.60 following a semester on Final Probation. For
situations like this, the Associate Dean will review the academic record of each student and a
decision on probation/suspension will be made accordingly.
The Associate Dean of Advising and Academic Support reviews the academic record of all students
who are on Final Probation, who meet the GPA requirement, but earn less than 12 credits. The
Associate Dean considers whether suspension is appropriate given the student’s performance in
courses and the total number of credits completed while a student at Syracuse University

That's actually a very good guess. Makes sense, if that's the case.

Don't think he would be on campus if he didn't meet requirements. From experience, the appeals are decided before the next semester.

http://thecollege.syr.edu/profiles/pages/greenberg-gerald.html

it looks like he is pre-gaming at a frat house for a syracuse basketball game in his picture.

Looks like he is just about to do a keg stand and then paint his face orange and blue.

Don't worry about it, it's not what is happening.

fine it was just i guess- but according to university rules if a student is on final probation and receives a 2.0 gpa but with under 12 credits -- this gets reviewed by dean to decide if they should continue as a student-- it was a guess i think its pretty clear

He failed to hand in a paper, after an extension, resulting in a failing grade. Also, there is an NCAA issue on his transcript, but SU has let him play through that.

Really?

That is what I heard. My guy is usually pretty good. He knows some folks very close to the athletic department. Jake, Bees or others may have heard differently. My guy also told me a while ago that Mookie was in trouble, but there was no outward coorboration or any other cooroberation, so I didn't post it.

So what is the ruling supposed to be on? He either failed or he didn't. Weird.

Great...vacated wins?
I don't think so. I don't think that they would take that chance. My understanding is that it is a clitch that has been being worked on. It not like a formal inquiry or a notice from the NCAA that if he plays, your wins are at risk. He didn't really elaborate, but I don't think it would be a retroactive thing.

the 1st part is good - they can dock some points grade the paper and move on.

the 2nd part, honestly i just dont want to beleive.

Isn't the first part considered an incomplete and didn't bees dismiss cheating or an incomplete? Or is the first part not considered an incomplete? The 2nd part is puzzling after all this time he's been enrolled at SU.

You gotta think they would let him hand the paper in, if true.

Which reminds of a gfreat story my buddy told me from when we were at school. He took a class, and didn't hand in the final paper. (This was a classic move of his, I don't think he ever handed a paper in on time. His move was to email the professor saying attached is my paper, and not then 'accidentally' not attach it). Anyway, he gets his report card, has an incomplete for the class. Tries to get in touch with the teacher over the summer (took the class second semester) but the teacher is like very sick or something, not reachable. So finally the next school year starts, he tracks the teacher down, and tells him he sent him the paper, he must've lost it, he can send him another one if he needs, etc. Professor buys the story that he (the professor) must've lost the paper, and just gives him an A on a paper he never even wrote!)

Hopefully we'll never find out the truth and he'll be cleared to play. That's my best case scenario.
