My Take

This week it was Hatcher who dropped a TD pass. He is fast and as usual, had his guy beat deep but somehow dropped it. Not good. Think he had another catch ripped out of his hands by a Purdue DB. Gotta get stronger for sure. Donovan Brown had the ball stripped and stolen by a Purdue DB in the fourth quarter for the one SU turnover, but from the replay I saw, he had it when he was tackled and the refs inexplicitedly gave the ball to Purdue anyway. Sigh.

Agree about that Brown / INT.

Looked like he had the ball, and was on his back. Then, the Purdue DB pulled it away, after they were on the ground, with the ball in Brown's hands. I was surprised when the announcers declared it a clear interception -- usually, the "tie" goes to the receiver. And in this case, I don't think it was a tie. I thought Brown clearly had it, and was down / flat on his back. Play should have been over.

IMO.

I was actually surprised there weren't more horrible calls with Flannigan's crew reffing the game. He needs to hang up his whistle and apply for a counter job at Popeyes. He's so awful.
You know it’s bad when fans of both teams are upset with the officiating. At one point, after a favorable call for us, Purdue fans near us yelled, “Why does he have a southern accent?”

I looked over and tried to explain the geographical location of Syracuse, New York. “It’s in the North,” I offered.

“Yeah, but the ACC.”

It was at that point that I gave up trying to be rational.

Neither guy established possession until they went to the ground, it wasn’t a simultaneous catch. The db was in better position from the start.

I thought so too. Got to fight until the whistle is blown 800 times I guess. But that one was odd.

Didn't seem that way from the replay. Looked like Brown came down with it, and the DB had his hand on it, then wrenched it away after they were on the ground -- like, a second after they were on the ground.

Ty.

My goal writing these road trip reports is to build interest in attending road games among SU fans to help grow us into a program that travels in big numbers. Our road tailgates make it a lot easier for newbies to get started and provide a built in network of people to share the experience with.

Hoping some people close top pulling the trigger will read one of these and decide to got for it.

I think we are getting there.

Forgot to mention that on Saturday morning, I went to a local restaurant called Mac’s located close to my hotel and O’Hare airport.

It was a single owner type place with a great staff and great food.

Highly recommend it to anyone who finds themselves in the area.

Food was top notch. As was the service.

I love Syracuse road trips, but haven't done one since the Maryland game. I plan on making it a habit when I retire in the spring of 2028. My wife retires next year, and she will most likely take some solo trips to visit her sister, and if that happens during football seasons, I'm hitting the road for games.

I really want to do one of TexanMark's tailgates at some point.

Thanks for doing these, Tomcat. I enjoy them.
