Here is my 2 cents. Mike is leaving. I compare it to 2002 when desaaun left and James t left. I think the message is more will leave. I believe Bryant is in the bag. And I bet we have a new point guard next year. I also think of these 3 only 1 will be back. Kaleb. BJ. Ron. Sloan from football team left 2. He said in an interview it's a business. Players are alwAys asked to leave. Etc. JAB message was he is not only getting Bryant but there will be another player in the mix

If Mike is gone then who is the "new point guard"

Howard is NOT a PG at all

So now that we know that Kaleb is coming back, are you sticking to your thinking?

Exactly. He's the biggest key to next season. Absolutely 100% need him back if we wanna be a legit top 10-20 team. He's more important than getting Bryant. G has to come back.

like x 1,000,000

not him leaving, but your point...
he is the one guy we can not lose.

i think he is going to leave as well. The OP might be on to something, maybe. Jim has said all along there will be room for Bryant. Maybe he has known for a while that G is going to take his degree and bounce?

How much time do you think Buss gets next year in that crowded backcourt?

because your banned buddy told you, right?

I don't understand people pushing the Gbinije is leaving crap. He isn't going to be an NBA draft pick players don't leave to actively go play in Europe unless they are European.
Gbinije is coming back look elsewhere if you think a current player won't be back.
JB isn't going to Devo/Paul Harris one of his two PGs on the roster with only an unproven Freshman Franklin Howard coming in. JB isn't stupid.

no, because if i were him... i would go.
Go where? Play for Maine Red Claws or Fort Wayne Mad Ants and make 50k in the NBDL?
If G were a 1st round pick I would be the first to tell him leave but not when you aren't even a 2nd round pick.

Big incentive for G to stay based on the UVa game. If he aspires to play in the NBA at this point he's just another swing player with nothing that differentiates him from literally dozens of others. If he comes back and gets significant minutes at point, he's suddenly a 6'7" PG.

Can't see him leaving for basketball reasons, but certainly can for "life" reasons.

IMO - G was a terrific player for us to have given our limited roster this season. That said he is not a point guard so if he does leave and his loss at the point guard position kills us, we weren't having a final four season anyway.

I also think that G is very replaceable as a SG or SF. Richardson is a MCDs caliber player, he is a candidate to replace him in a similar role. His contributions may also be replaced in different ways ie. not a carbon copy replacement, but by guys whose skill sets require us to give up some things that G brings to the table, but make us stronger in other areas.

Is he replaceable by a guy(s) on the current roster, playing like they played this season? No. Is he replaceable by a guy(s) that will be joining the team or by a guy(s) on the roster that elevates their game next season? Very possibly.

Gbinije isn't going to stay at school or leave with one more year of eligibility because of something that was posted on the internet. If he's leaving it will be for his reasons and maybe JAB can get him a gig in Europe. Maybe the guy wants to make $250k playing basketball instead of not making money. Maybe he's not interested in the college game at 23.

People are just speculating and college players do all sorts of things for whatever reason they have. Making $50k a season in the D-league is more than what he's earning at SU.
Gbinije

Mike is not like desaaun or jt. In fact. I think JB absolutely wants him to stay. I think mike is the one who wants to leave.

Malachi isn't close to replacing G right now.

He rarely handles the ball for his high school team.

So who would be the 2nd addition after TB? Murray?

The max salary in the D league is $35k and most make less.

I would never try and state what a player should do or predict what he will do, but from a pure bball standpoint cannot imagine why Mike would leave (unless there is a ban). He has seen CJ and Rak in last 2 years shoot onto the national scene and increase their NBA prospects (of course CJ still fell short in the end). Mike's junior year was better than theirs, and with the potential for this team to be top 10, he could easily do the same and he even contend for conference and national honors. This, too, from a guy who spent the first part of his career on the bench and then had to sit a year...so one would think is as hungry as anyone to establish himself as a big time player. I don't really buy the argument that next year is an income opportunity he cannot get back...I don't profess to be an expert on the Euro bball salaries, but have to imagine that a year at Cuse on the national scene and potentially playing himself into a late first round pick would, in the final analysis, greatly mitigate if not completely eliminate any lost income. That said, the beauty of next year -- if no ban -- is that it will be an exciting collection of talent even if someone expected to be there is not. But clearly G would be a key returnee, probably the most important of anyone.

Most underclassmen that declare for the draft are not drafted. Just sayin'. I don't have a prediction about G, one way or the other.
