My Wife Asked Me…..

Mrs Crusty loves the Cuse. She even rushed the field when we beat Clemson. But lately, she has been lobbying for us to adopt the Chanticleers as a second team. We are only 30 minutes from Coastal Carolina and her favorite color is teal!

We have enjoyed games at Brooks Stadium. Nice atmosphere and parking is easy with shuttles. She has a point.

Can't believe we are going to have to endure another rebuild! It's worth spending Saturdays enjoying myself instead of the anxiety of Orange football. I will just follow the Cuse on gamecast and then decide whether or not to watch the replay.

When Pat Dye kicked the field goal, I was pi$$ed.

When we lost to the Illini in '89, I drove around aimlessly for hours.

When Gedney was tackled three yards short, I was crushed.

When we lost to Kentucky in '96, I got no sleep.

Losses would put me in a bad mood. Sometimes for days.

Kind of ironic that yesterday's game was on the date it was,

20 years ago yesterday at exactly 9:03 AM (and I know this because I was looking at my watch with increasing irritation, wondering why the PATH doors were not opening because I was already late), had the second tower come crashing down immediately rather than having been able to withstand an airplane plowing into it, I would not be posting this as I would not be here.

No loss has been anything more than mildly irritating ever since.
Yeah perspective has a way of providing meaning to life.

Now that my yearly 'glimmer of hope' that SU football will rebound has been crushed again, I can go back to enjoying the rest of college football. Bama-Fl, Aub-Ped St, GA-SC on slate for next week.
I am sure I will still torture myself and follow the SU games but there will be a bit more of a 'meh' feeling.
I couldn’t possibly care less about those other teams.

You’ll be happy to know that the amount of time of that angst and depression last shorter and shorter the older you get.
Liar liar pants on fire!

This is kind of where I am too. The funny thing is that like gmoney44 said is that it’s embarrassing but honestly for the first time in a long time I feel like we actually have some good skill players. The coaching is horrific though. And the QB play is awful. Even after Game 1 when Babers said TD was “really good” and he was like 7-10 for 90 yards or whatever that is such complete bs because that’s a) not college football today, and b) we were playing OHIO.

It appears I posted this in the wrong thread yesterday…

Hello fellow addicts. I’m Orangepace and I just can’t seem to give up on watching Syracuse play undisciplined football.

My wife was running errands yesterday, and when she got home we had a small disagreement. Normally I’m very agreeable.

Mid conversation she completely stops and goes, Syracuse lost didn’t they?
Literally the same exact thing happened to me.

“Why do you keep doing this to yourself, week after week, year after year?”

My parents went to Iowa and Wyoming so I try to watch their games too. If there is a conflict with an SU game, I always have SU on the tv and the Hawkeyes or Cowboys on my laptop to just keep an eye on.

I think Syracuse is going to be relegated to laptop status for the rest of the season. I can't stop watching the games - I just don't have it in me. But sports is supposed to be fun and right now, Iowa and Wyoming are more fun to watch..

Betting is the only way to make it work.

Bet $100 for SU +0.5 at the half. Made it bearable. That is the only way I can now watch SU Football. I bet halftime so I can safely come down during the 2nd half

However, my $88 payout was somewhat wasted. Saw SU 10.5 points in 2nd half. Thought it was a good bet. Should have bet the total over of 21.5.

Frankly NY needs to legalize gambling. That way NJ will become more of a .... hole. Well you all know.

Go CUSE.

FULL DISCLOSURE I did take +3.5 Wins for the season for SU. LOL
