Mykelti Williams not admitted

Anyone know if this was an SU admissions standard that kept him out or NCAA standard?

That's two very talented safeties in as many years. smh.

This is very disappointing, but great news for clarke, who got a second life with SU.

Regardless of who it was, you can't just get by in school whether it be high school or JUCO.

Clarify please.

Are you saying this in a general sense? As in, if you just get by, regardless of the circumstances, you can't expect to succeed at anything?

Or are you addressing something specific about this kid? Like he slacked off in school?

Unbelievable.

This administration is going to drive Dino away. With the fact he got into Notre Dame which doesn't allow anyone in just for football and we couldn't admit him something smells fishy.

Our "doctor" is DQing kids and now this. The administration better be ready to pay Dino as his patience will run thin.

I thought it was odd until I saw tweets about a QB grad transfer who UVA wouldn't admit but is ending up at Vanderbilt. How can you get admitted to Vandy and not be able to get into UVA?

Because the schools can flatly admit anybody they want. School admissions are either on board with athletics or they're not.

Great point. Would like to know the details of this like, if this kid was signed with known deficiencies or even a contingency situation? CFB is soooo tough if you are a HC. The team doc situation as well as admission dynamics is a reminder why coaches DO go to the pros and deal with diva players.

He did spend a year at a community college. Maybe his grades weren't stellar there?

I'm not aware of him landing anywhere else and I'm sure this isn't something that just happened. I checked his twitter a week ago and everything SU related was removed including his original commitment tweet.

He was a 3 to play 3 guy so maybe there was ground he had to make up to make that happen regardless of the school and he didn't get there.

I'm not passing judgement on this one until I see if/where he lands.

Good lord. Do you predict the Armageddon every time there's thunderstorms in the forecast?

The guy posted grades for at least three undergraduate semesters. Just because he got in to ND out of high school doesn't mean he showed he can do the work to get into Syracuse as a Junior.

You know what, then let him leave. We are not the only school that has real drs. that make decisions that the football team don't like. Nor are we the only school that doesn't admit kids. I would bet that the coach knows that however.

You want to take a shot at me go ahead. I don't predict "Armageddon" I want to win. I am frustrated with SU leadership(not the AD)that is all I will say.

Having doctors that make decisions that the football team "don't like" and having doctors practicing CYA medicine DQ'ing kids that shouldn't be are two entirely different things.

Letting Dino leave for reasons as stupid as what SU is doing is just plain dumb dumb dumb. Especially knowing that our policies regarding admissions and DQ's are nowhere near in line with what literally every other school is doing. Dumb...Period.

First, you have no idea what the drs saw in dqing the last player or any other player. You have no idea if they are covering their @ss. None. They are responsible for both the player and the school. And the disaster of having a player die while playing would 1. be a tragedy of unspeakable proportion for the player and his family, and it would be a nuclear bomb on our school and our football program. Second, as far as the academics, we have let a lot of kids in that are iffy. There must be a great reasons why Williams wasn't let in.

Man, we do go 0-100 around here sometimes... a JUCO Safety doesn't get admitted and it turns into Dino leaving, an unsupportive administration and comes full circle back to the medical team.

If Dino wanted Mykelti that bad, he could've had conversations with people. Maybe, just maybe, this had been known in house for a long time and just wasn't that big of a deal.

He never played one snap here, you can't lose/miss what you never had.

Nearly every player that was DQ'd here is playing elsewhere that chose to continue their football careers and when Steven Clark leaves, he will play elsewhere too...and there is already a huge thread on this board relating to this subject about Tucker. You should read it, it has some interesting links and articles I posted from Pittsburgh University. Not gonna re-hash it here.

Bottom line is that it is CYA medicine. It's looking out for the University instead of doing the right thing.

What I said above is fact, no disputing it. I would also bet that SU has DQ'd more players since Marrone than any other school in the country.

The only thing that this guy http://doctor.webmd.com/doctor/507917/james-tucker-md-conditions-procedures should be DQ'ing kids for is the common cold. No way he should have that power with no expertise in any of the fields that are related to DQ.

The staff wants him gone, that is good enough for me.

I can tell you for a fact Dino keeps a record on this stuff. Also look at his track record if he gets to a bowl game with this schedule I will be nervous about keeping him.

Everybody keeps a record of everything.

If we get a bowl game and he wants to bolt, then he's going to bolt. That's under nobody's control but Dino's.

Not admitting a JUCO Safety is not earth shattering.

I'll tell you that the Admin has been way more supportive than they were for either of his last two predecessor's. Things are moving in the right direction.

Win, lose or draw, if Dino's a leaver, he's a leaver. The rest of it is just the excuses to justify it. If he wants to stay here, he'll work through whatever issues he may or may not have.
