N.C. State shot 58%

including 50% from three. We won by 16. On the road. I'm smelling it.

I noticed that stat too. Not sure how that can be but, obviously, not good. Get a team that is hot and can play D and that spells trouble. Can't rain on tonights performance though. Nice beatdown.

They were hot, and they still lost.

I loved JB in the press conference afterward saying looking at the stat sheet he thought NC State won. :rolling:

Just a great first game as the #1 team in the land.

The two potential bumps in the road prior to mid-February are both home games - Marquette and Pittsburgh, so I have to believe the coaching staff will have the players primed for those games considering what happened in the NCAAs last year against Marquette and our ineptitude against the Panthers for over a decade now.

The only 2 games I have on the schedule as a "sure loss" are @Louisville and @UConn.

Can we stumble before that? Sure. But I don't see it myself.

Cheers,
Neil

We have so many legitimate players this year, that we can take out anyone who is having a bad game and there's another guy to step up. We're crazy deep, and when we are focused, our defense is nuts. I would have like to see some man when they were making that run to start the 2nd half, though.

Bizarre game. So many runs.
They seemed to be bombing us from 3, easily converted a lot of free-throw line jumpers, and had a bunch of impactful dunks. Yet, we seemed to easily push past them and extend leads at will. I was also surprised when i saw that high FG percentage. Weird game. Impressive result.

Our problem seems when we start getting overconfident and suddenly everyone's thinking "heat check." If we played intense and smart ball all game, we'd have won by 40.

The kids need a bit more discipline. I'm wary of asking for humility, though. Kris play so well when he's confident. Dion, as well. Scoop is more of a 'delicate blend.' He's equal parts dagger and -up - i'm so glad we have him, but he's an impending heart attack.

I loved that jumper from Melo, even though he missed it. Next year, those go down routinely.

Both tonight and the Florida game—it just seemed like we were toying with two very good teams (well one is probably alot better than the other, but the other was shooting lights out on their home floor)—this really is an explosive team.
Still wish the half-court O would come around a little more, but sheesh do we have athletes who can defend and run.

happens when you force 18 turnovers. Yeah they had slightly better shooting %'s..but didn't take as many shots.
