Nasir Robinson's shove of CJ falling out of bounds...

I enjoyed the one Scoop to Fab oop they replayed about 4 times in a row. As Fab was jumping to catch the pass, you could see the defender at his right hit him low and knock him away from the basket. Once he reached the pinnacle of his jump, a defender from the other side hit him high, and knocked him back toward the basket. Apparently since the opposing forces left him in the same place as if he was untouched, its not worth calling a foul.

Wasn't that remarkable? That's how it appeared - he got undercut by the defender in the lane, then the near-side defender redirected Fab back toward the basket. No whistle for either, despite the fact that undercutting a guy is much more likely to be a career-ender than any sort of elbow and shouldn't ever be allowed to happen.

They're a dirty team. I don't want to play them again.

Robinson is a thug with marginal talent as a basketball player--attributes shared by many a Pitt player over the years.

He was a very capable zone-collapser against us last year, but I agree with the general idea. He's a goon.

There's a reason we don't see Syracuse and Pittsburgh competing for recruits (and a reason last night was the first time I learned that Perry Patterson has a brother who plays D-I basketball). They don't recruit skill guys. They recruit tight ends and gamble that the refs will cooperate with the thuggery.

That is, until the second round of the NCAAs. That's when they get exposed as playing dirtier ball than Matt Howard's team.

Apparently, you didn't see the eastern euro guy on Oklahoma's team cross body block Carmelo from behind in the elite eight game in 2003.

No, believe me I saw that foul. However, it wasn't a 1 ft away from a guy looking at it happening. That foul still pisses me off to this day.

It wasn't a flagrant. Come on. It was a dirty play but it wasn't a flagrant. They really just bumped and Robinson pushed off. They were both falling the same way.

toward the end of the game was the most egregious flagrant foul I have ever seen. In front of the Zebra no less who was a foot away. I mean the dude doesn't even attempt to go for the ball and just shoves CJ. I swear I almost lost my shiznit. :bang: How do they continually let these goons play this way? I hope Dixon and crew lose every game from here on out. Plus that timeout with 8 secs to go. Real classy Jaime. You could tell JB was giving him the stare down like you POS.

Bunch of on this board, seriously. Enough. Pitt plays a physical brand of basketball, they intimidate at times and make it tough on teams that don't want to mix it up. It is what it is... but seriously they aren't thug u and Dixon isn't dirty coach either. Seriously, What is wrong with that?

Hell, Robinson's shove was a picnic compared to the old Georgetown teams -- how 'bout when Ewing swung on Pearl? Or Horace Broadnax kneed Andre Hawkins in the groin?

But I agree, Robinson is on the court mostly for physical abuse.

Actually, IIRC, Pearl hit Ewing in the stomach first. What I loved about that sequence was Pearl's ability to move his neck (and head) back far enough so that Ewing's wild roundhouse missed. It was cartoon like.
Impossible is not impossible!
LGO!!!

Ithaca Barrel, Really guy? Sorry I wasn't the bully in High School like you were. I didn't go around kicking handicapped kids saying they deserved it for not walking fast enough. There's a way to play the game and then there's Pitt hoops. I think Dixon is a great coach, I've never said he wasn't. Clearly he owns the Zone. I just don't agree with the fact that because your team lacks basketball talent you can turn this into the WWE. Just because your team commits 3 fouls every possession doesn't make it ok for an over the top foul every now and then. Why even have refs or fouls? Let's turn this into YMCA ball. Would you be saying how great Pitt hoops is if CJ broke his arm or one of our guys were out for the season? This isn't the 80's where brawls were common place. Being a bully isn't cool anymore. I get that Pitt wants to intimidate you, I'm not naive. However, the brand of hoops Pitt sells is bush league and I for one hope Pitt loses every game from here on out.

I don't like pitt and never have, the ACC should have gotten over themselves and invited Uconn instead of Pitt. The 13 years of Big east football 1991-2003 before Miami and VT left. Years in top 25 Miami-12, VT-9,Syr-7,BC-4,WV-2,Pitt-1 the problem was not the league wasn't good enough it wasn't big enough. I would rather have had a good basketball team with potential to get better in football go with us. Howland with grab and shove in the pac 12 has run into trouble and pitt is starting to have the same problem and it will worsen in the ACC.

You must not have been around in the day. During the John Thompson era, if one of his Georgetown players did that, he would have called it a "hand check."
I suggest instead of using such foul language we use dashes when writing awful words such as "J--n Th-----n" and "G-town."
(The current coach may be referred to by his real name, Mr. Potatohead).
They once got away with taking a swing at one of our players during a BE Final, for heaven's sake.
I LOOOOOOAAAATHE them.

I understand it's the BE...we do some banging.
But the officiating in the Pitt game was horrific.
The plays cited here and others...including one Jay Bilas pointed out when KJ got slammed with a body while going to the hoop.
And ironically, Dion Waiters got called for a charge on a play where he used some nice body control to barely brush a guy and the defender totally took a dive.
Just awful work by the officials.

I don't have a problem with physical play, it's what makes the BE great and probably one of the qualities the ACC is trying to import. Not liking the "dirty" plays but didn't see more than 2-3 in the entire game. I don't think 2-3 dirty plays is unusual at all for a BE game. Officiating has gotten to be pretty inconsistent lately, don't know if that semi-circle under the basket is a good thing. Also, to me, if a guy comes down with a rebound and clearly has possession, he should have the right to raise his elbows and swing away to his hearts content. If fools want the ball more than their teeth, that's fine too...

I have a problem with bad reffering though. Those refs sat there and watched litterally not figuratively atleast 20 illegal screens in the second half and wouldn't give a warning.

You know what makes it even more obvious cheating the fact that there are three refs to catch it and none of them did their job. How could the NCAA not go after them is below logic.

yes it was a flagrant 1, the same thing happened in the Nova/Hall game tonight

pinkston got a rebound and the Hall player pushed him with both hands, they looked at the replay and after 2 seconds confirmed it

one of the pints for a flagrant one is contact without making a play on the ball(intentional)

Robinson pushed Fair so he could not get the ball should have been shots and ball

Well, it isn't basketball, its WWF. If you like it, root for them. JB doesn't coach that style of so called "basketball". You can play balls to the wall with total effort without grabbing, shoving, tackling and cheap shots. Other than that there is nothing "wrong" with bar league basketball.

That was the exact play that elicited my "I hope they get aids" text.

that's truly an offensive comment and inappropriate for a public forum
