Nassib or Hunt?

Oye Vey...

Ok, I'll bite. Hunt, but only because he has the protection of a solid O-Line.

Had Ryan been given a solid offensive line, this wouldn't even be close to a conversation. The lack of an O-Line forced Ryan to rush his throws. He never had time to throw down field. Everything had to be short, or he'd be in the turf.

Hunt's last 2 games have made this a good question. I do think Nassib had a higher ceiling then Hunt. Nassib's arm > Hunt's feet. Still if Hunt can be in the same conversation career wise as Nassib i think we all will be all.

Who's the better player after his sophomore year?

Hunt just played a great game, no question. But it's much easier to teach a kid with a strong arm to take something off a throw, than it is to teach a kid who can make the touch passes but lacks a strong arm the ability to hit the long balls.

By his senior year, Hunt will have a better offensive line and better run game supporting him than Nassib. If all pans out with KJ, Jamal, Brisly, Cornelius etc. he could possibly have a better receiving corps as well (though players like Provo, Lemon and Sales are hard to match).

Hunt's senior year could be a great year.

Will he have a better Jr. year than Nassib? Doubt it. We need a tight end. Maybe Custis.

Well you have to take away the bowl game vs. KState.

Do that and Nassib's season was pretty unspectacular. Couldn't do anything the last month of the season and I remember one good drive apiece in the USF and WVU white-knucklers.

It's closer that I first thought.

What we need is a guy that can run like Hunt and throw for the most part like Nassib, other than the long ball. That is what a program like Syracuse needs to be truly successful a true double threat qb

Hunt has thrown a couple great long balls the last few games. I was starting to think they could be a strength after last week, but at least a work in progress.

Maybe next year with a handful of deep threats, we can see for sure if Hunt can barrel a deep ball.

Know it doesn't much matter (I'm happy for the win and elated we are bowl eligible), and I think everyone knows which side of the fence I reside. But some numbers for you...

Nassib without K-State Pinstripe performance:
Passing: 189-for-337 (56.1%), 16 TD, 8 INT
Rushing: 60 rushes, 183 yards gain, -238 yards lost, -55 net, 1 TD
Total offense: 2,040 yards

Hunt through the regular season:
Passing: 148-for-244 (60.7%), 10 TD, 8 INT
Rushing: 91 rushes, 521 yards gain, -95 yards lost, 426 net, 5 TD
Total offense: 1,876 yards

Would also like to add our non-conference schedule and arguably our conference schedule were much tougher in 2013 than in 2010. Two I-AAs, Akron and Washington (2010) vs. Penn State, Northwestern, bowl-eligible Tulane and I-AA (2013).

Nassib... I hope Hunt ends up being awesome, but Nassib was incredible IMO.

unless you think Hunt is the worst qb ever at syracuse, you have to take Hunt.

Provo, Sales and Lemon are not hard to match. We're not in the Big East anymore. Sammy Watkins and co. are hard to match. FSU's WRs are hard to match. Ebron of UNC is hard to match. Marylands duo before injury are hard to match. We need to start bringing in those types of players to compete in the ACC...and it looks like we are.

I think both were really bad as sophomores. perry Patterson bad. One of those 3 early on was the worst qb ever at Syracuse in the modern era. Take your pick. I have been following since about 1984.

Nassib had a great senior year but he was terrible as a sophomore and a little less terrible as a junior for the most part, IMO.

I think we walked by you near the Davis statue at two thirty but wasn't sure and didn't know how to explain to a two year old that it's a guy I argue with on the internet, so I didn't flag you down

Hunt. Ryan never had a good deep ball, the pinstripe bowl throws were to a wide open Marcus sales. It's kind of funny how people reminisce about the past and forget how everyone was calling for Loeb even into Ryan's senior year. As for hunt I'm not sure what people are looking for. Great story where he came from a difficult situation? Check. Ability to stand in the pocket and take hits? Check. Resilience in that he throws a pick one series then goes back to lead his team 80 yards down the field with two minutes left and the season on the line? Check (nassib did this too his sophomore year). Showed real improvement through the year? Double check. The kid is a hard worker who made some really nice plays yesterday. Enjoy it.

People like to reminisce about Nassib as if he was great for three years! he was terrible for two with two good games versus real opponents up until his senior year. ( k st and wvu in 2010). Kid was a gamer but Hunt is a tough kid too.

This is college football in the modern era, game managers aren't needed anymore and until his senior year that is all Nassib ever was and many times he sucked at it.
